When light comes from sun to the Earth's atmosphere it goes rarer medium to denser medium. It means starlight bends towards the normal . Stars are twinkling effect . planets doesn't twinkle because they are much closer to our earth than star and they seen as extended source. So they are not point -sized sources will average out to zero thereby nullifying the twinkling effect.

Rajni Bisht 1 year, 11 months ago (11112165)

Stars are point source of light . They twinkle due to refraction of light in atmosphere as the physical condition of atmosphere is not stationary and diff layers have different refractive index.we can take planet as a collection of point source of light each light refracts and they cancel out the effect of each other
