वर्षा जल संग्रहण :- यह एक तकनीक है जिसमें वर्षा जल को खाली स्थानों, घरों में टैंक में, बेकार पड़े कुएँ में भरा जाता है। बाद में इसका प्रयोग किया जाता है। पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों में ‘गुल' तथा ‘कुल' जैसी वाहिकाओं से नदी की धारा का रास्ता बदलकर खेतों की सिचाई।
भारत के विभिन्न भागों में वर्षा जल संग्रहण की दी विधियाँ :-
- राजस्थान में पीने का जल एकत्रित करने के लिए छत वर्षा जल संग्रहण आम तकनीक है। पश्चिम बंगाल में बाढ़ के दौरान बाढ़ जल वाहिकाएँ बनाते हैं।
- शुष्क तथा अर्ध शुष्क क्षेत्रों में वर्षा जल एकत्रित करने के लिए गड्ढ़ों का निर्माण।
- नदी पर बाँध बनाकर इससे अनेक प्रकार के उद्देश्यों को पूरा करना, बहुउद्देशीय नदी घाटी परियोजना कहते हैं।
- जल विद्युत उत्पादन
- सिंचाई
- घरेलू व औद्योगिक जल आपूर्ति
- नौचालन व पर्यटन
- बाढ़ नियंत्रण
- मछली पालन

Visiting her family orchard made the narrator sad as it was the last time they were going to visit the orchard because of partition and will never be able to visit this place again which was so close to her heart. This just makes her sad.
