a. Commercial fishing is the activity of catching fish and other seafood for commercial profit, mostly from wild fisheries. It provides a large quantity of food to many countries around the earth, but those who practice it as an industry must often pursue fish far into the ocean under adverse conditions.

The two most obvious benefits from commercial fishing are: 1) that it feeds the world's demand for seafood, and 2) that it has a tremendous economic impact on world GDP.

b. Because of the roles fish play in aquatic communities, and their ability to move to different environments based on changing conditions, the variety and diversity of fish species found at a given site serves as an indicator of biological integrity and water quality.

n(A × B) = 5(4) = 20

n[(A × B) ∩ (B × A)] = 9

Step by step explanation:

Solution :

Given:

n(A) = 5 and n(B) = 4

Thus, we have:

n(A × B) = 5(4) = 20

A and B are two sets having 3 elements in common.

Now,

Let:

A = (a, a, a, b, c) and B = (a, a, a, d)

Thus, we have:

(A × B) = {(a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, d), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, d), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, d), (b, a),

(b, a), (b, a), (b, d), (c, a), (c, a), (c, a), (c, d)}

(B × A) = {(a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, b), (a, c), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, b), (a, c), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a),

(a, b), (a, c), (d, a), (d, a), (d, a), (d, b), (d, c)}

[(A × B) ∩ (B × A)] = {(a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a), (a, a)}

∴ n[(A × B) ∩ (B × A)] = 9
