Bureaucracy, generally, means government by the officers and it includes all the government servants who hold office on permanent basis till they retire at a fixed age. Head of the State and ministers determine the policy. Permanent government servants run the administration and enforce the laws according to that policy. There is no effect on them of the change of head of state and the ministers.

Bureaucracy has been derived from the French word ‘bureau’ which means ‘desk’. Thus, bureaucracy is a government which is run by the persons who sit on desks, means officers.

green house is anenclosed region made of glass in whichdelicate plants are kept for growing. Sun's rays pass though the glass in the greenhouse. The infra red rays reelected by earth surface inside the greenhouse are not allowed to escape due to the glass walls Thus, air inside the green house becomes warmer. In a similar manner, atmosphere acts like a green house wall for earth. The gases such as co2, methane, ozone, etc. Are green house gases. These allow sun's rays to enter the earth's atmosphere and reach earth surface. But they prevent the reflected infra red rays from escaping the earth. This is called green house effect....

Global warming refers to the increasing temperature of the Earth’s climate system and its related effects. Scientific evidence has conclusively proven that the Earth’s temperature is in fact rising and has risen by 0.85oC. This has an impact has affected different regions differently. The effects include rising sea levels, retreating glaciers, loss of sea ice in the poles, warming global temperatures, changing precipitation, expansion of deserts, etc.

This raises significant threats for humans such as food security from decreasing crop yields, submergence of a low-lying area due to the rising sea. To prevent irreversible damage to the delicate ecosystems on Earth, scientists have decided that global warming should be limited to a maximum of 2.0oC relative to pre-industrial levels. The greenhouse effect plays an important role in the rising temperature. And hence to restrict global warming we need to limit the greenhouse effect and the gaseous emissions that cause the greenhouse effect.

Fourteen of the fifteen years in the 21st century have been the hottest years on record with constant occurrences of extreme weather, cyclones, droughts, floods, etc. All these events are some way or the other have an association with the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Any Set that does not contain any element is called the empty or null or void set. The symbol used to represent an empty set is – {} or φ. Examples:

  • Let A = {x : 9 < x < 10, x is a natural number} will be a null set because there is NO natural number between numbers 9 and 10. Therefore, A = {} or φ
  • Let W = {d: d > 8, d is the number of days in a week} will also be a void set because there are only 7 days in a week.

A universal set is a set which contains all the elements or objects of other sets, including its own elements. It is usually denoted by the symbol ‘U’.

Suppose Set A consist of all even numbers such that, A = {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, …} and set B consist of all odd numbers, such that, B = {1, 3, 5, 7, 9, …}. The universal set U consist of all natural numbers, such that, U = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,….}. Therefore, as we know, all the even and odd numbers are a part of natural numbers. Therefore, Set U has all the elements of Set A and Set B.

Lubricant is a substance used to reduce friction between surfaces in contact which reduces heat generated when the surfaces move.
The property of reducing friction bisetween two particles is known as lubricity. Example: oil, grease.

In case of automobiles and machine-parts which tend to get screechy or ineffective over a period of time, we apply substances to make their surfaces smooth and thereby reduce friction. These are called lubricants.  You must have seen specific lubricants for automobile parts in petrol stations.

In this change a new substance is formed, hence it is a Chemical change.

 

Adding lemon juice changes the acidity of tea. 

 

Tea has polyphenol pigment 7−20% and on adding lemon juice which is acidic, hydrogen ions suppress the ionization of polyphenols and that changes the colour of tea making it lighter.

 

Therefore, change in the colour of black tea on adding lemon juice is an example of chemical change.
