Economics is sometimes called the study of scarcity because economic activity would not exist if scarcity did not force people to make choices. When there is scarcity and choice, there are costs. The cost of any choice is the option or options that a person gives up. Choice refers to the ability of a consumer or producer to decide which good, service or resource to purchase or provide from a range of possible options. Being free to chose is regarded as a fundamental indicator of economic well being and development.

A natural product is a chemical compound or substance produced by a living organism—that is, found in nature. In the broadest sense, natural products include any substance produced by life. The broadest definition of natural product is anything that is produced by life, and includes the likes of biotic materials (e.g. wood, silk), bio-based materials (e.g. bioplastics, cornstarch), bodily fluids (e.g. milk, plant exudates), and other natural materials (e.g. soil, coal).

(c) 16 cm
Let ABCD be the rhombus with diagonals AC and BD intersecting each other at O.
Also, diagonals of a rhombus bisect each other at right angles.
If AC = 12 cm, AO = 6 cm
Applying Pythagoras theorem in right-angled triangle AOB. We get:
Hence, the length of the second diagonal BD is 16 cm.

- Genetic variation is an important force in evolution as it allows natural selection to increase or decrease frequency of alleles already in the population.
- Genetic variation can be caused by mutation (which can create entirely new alleles in a population), random mating, random fertilization, and recombination between homologous chromosomes during meiosis (which reshuffles alleles within an organism’s offspring).
- Genetic variation is advantageous to a population because it enables some individuals to adapt to the environment while maintaining the survival of the population.

The ominous silence was the first indication of impending disaster. The wind dropped and the sky immediately grew dark. The narrator saw what he thought as an enormous cloud coming towards the ship. With horror he realised that it was not a cloud but a wave like no other he had ever seen. It was almost twice the height of other waves.
The wave hit the boat and wrecked it completely. Water gushed from all sides and the boat started filling with water.

we have to find sum and product of zeroes of the given polynomial 3x² - 5x + 6.
we know, for general form of quadratic polynomial, ax² + bx + c
- sum of zeroes = - coefficient of x/coefficient of x² = -b/a
- sum of zeroes = - coefficient of x/coefficient of x² = -b/a product of zeroes = constant/coefficient of x² = c/a
on comparing 3x² - 5x + 6 with ax² + bx + c we get, a = 3, b = -5 and c = 6
so, sum of zeroes = -b/a = -(-5)/3 = 5/3
product of zeroes = c/a = (6)/3 = 2
hence, sum of zeroes = 5/3
and product of zeroes = 2

The narrator and his wife wanted to ‘duplicate’ the round—the world voyage made 200 years earlier by Captain James Cook. They had been making formidable preparations for the last 16 years. First of all they got a boat especially designed and professionally built for this purpose. It was a 23 metre, 30 tonne wooden-hulled boat. They tested it for months in the roughest weather. They were both mentally and physically prepared to undertake their exceptionally long and challenging sea-voyage.

The narrator wanted to go on a 'round-the-world' voyage by following captain James Cook's route. He started from Plymouth in England, sailed towards Africa's Cape town and finally set towards Australia. He wanted to repeat the voyage sailed by a sailor, James Crook 200 years ago as he had always dreamed of it. As subsequent events demonstrate, the narrator doesn't know much about how banks work. All he knows is that he gets incredibly nervous whenever he enters one. On this occasion, he visits the bank because he has had a small pay increase and feels that he must deposit the money in the bank.

Land, sometimes referred to as dry land, is the solid surface of Earth that is not permanently covered by water. The vast majority of human activity throughout history has occurred in land areas that support agriculture, habitat, and various natural resources. Some life forms (including terrestrial plants and terrestrial animals) have developed from predecessor species that lived in bodies of water.
Areas where land meets large bodies of water are called coastal zones. The division between land and water is a fundamental concept to humans. The demarcation line between land and water can vary by local jurisdiction and other factors. A maritime boundary is one example of a political demarcation. A variety of natural boundaries exist to help clearly define where water meets land. Solid rock landforms are easier to demarcate than marshy or swampy boundaries, where there is no clear point at which the land ends and a body of water has begun. Demarcation lines can further vary due to tides and weather.

The major examples of social inequality include income gap, gender inequality, health care, and social class. In health care, some individuals receive better and more professional care compared to others. They are also expected to pay more for these services. Democracy has a significant and robust effect on redistribution, but it fails to reduce inequality. ... Thus, the benefits of any redistributive policy accrue more to the middle class than the poor, and as a result, income inequality may not decline as expected (see also Stigler 1970).
