The lost child is main character of story. he is innocent and happy by nature. he walks joyfully to fair and plays with everything that comes his way including insects and worms. he is obedient and follows his parents instructions without any grudge. he is cheerful and does not throw tantrums when they refuse to buy him things. in fact, he is very intelligent because half the rime he does not wait even for their refusal, for he already knows the reason behind it. he is deeply attached to both of his parents and realisation about having got separated from scared him. after getting lost, he does not get tempted by very things that he had longed for earlier from his parents. the child wins reader love and admiration for his innocence and purity. स्टेपी क्षेत्रों में संसाधनों की कमी के कारण मंगोलों और मध्य-एशियाई यायावरों को व्यापार और वस्तु-विनिमय के लिए उनके पड़ोसी चीनवासियों के पास जाना पड़ता था। यह व्यवस्था दोनों पक्षों के लिए लाभकारी थी। यायावर कबीलेवासी खेती से प्राप्त उत्पादों और लोहे के उपकरणों को चीन से लाते थे और घोड़े, फ़र व स्टेपी में पकड़े गए शिकार का विनिमय करते थे। उन्हें वाणिज्यिक क्रियाकलापों में काफी तनाव का सामना करना पड़ता था। इसका कारण यह था कि दोनों पक्ष अधिकाधिक लाभ कमाना चाहते थे। जलवायु के अत्यधिक ठंडा या गरम होने के कारण स्टेपी प्रदेशों में खेती करना केवल कुछ ही ऋतुओं में संभव था, परंतु मंगोलों ने सुदूर पश्चिम के तुर्की के विपरीत कृषि कार्य नहीं किया। इसलिए खाद्य उत्पादों तथा लोहे के उपकरणों के लिए उन्हें चीन जाना पड़ता था। इस प्रकार एक पशुपालक और आखेटक । समाज का जीन व्यापार के अभाव में असंभव था।
