  1. विधायी कार्य –
  • संसद का मुख्य कार्य जनता के सामाजिक तथा भौतिक कल्याण हेतु कानूनों का निर्माण करना है।
  • यह संघ सूची तथा समवर्ती सूची के किसी भी विषय पर कानून बना सकती है।
  • कुछ परिस्थितियों में यह राज्य सूची में आने वाले विषयों पर भी कानून बना सकती है ।
  • साधारण विधेयक संसद के दोनों सदनों में से किसी में भी प्रस्तावित किया जा सकता है परन्तु दोनों सदनों से पारित होना अनिवार्य है।
  • यदि दोनों सदनों में विधेयक पारित करने पर मतभेद हो तो दोनों सदनों का संयुक्त अधिवेशन बुलाया जा सकता है।
  • विधेयक दोनों सदनों के उपस्थित तथा मतदान करने वाले सांसदों के बहुमत से पारित होना चाहिए।
  • इस परिस्थिति में वही होता है जैसा लोकसभा चाहती है।
  • यह धारणा भ्रामक है कि राष्ट्रपति द्वारा जारी किए गए अध्यादेशों को संसद स्वीकृति देती है।
  • संसद उन्हें बहुमत से अस्वीकार नहीं करती तो वे सत्र शुरू होने के 1 सप्ताह बाद समाप्त हो जाते हैं।
  • इस प्रकार संसद या तो अध्यादेश को अस्वीकार करती है या उस पर कोई कार्यवाही नहीं करती।
  • संसद अध्यादेश को स्वीकृति नहीं देती बल्कि उसके स्थान पर एक नया विधेयक प्रस्तावित एवं पारित किया जाता है।
  • पारित होने पर यह विधेयक कानून बन जाता है।
  1. वित्तीय कार्य –
  • भारत के संविधान के अनुसार वित्त विधेयक केवल लोकसभा से प्रस्तावित किया जा सकता है राज्यसभा से नहीं।
  • लोकसभा से पारित होने के पश्चात इसे राज्यसभा की स्वीकृति के लिए भेजा जाता है।
  • राज्यसभा को यह विधेयक 14 दिन के अन्दर-अन्दर वापिस भेजना अनिवार्य है, चाहे वो उस पर सुझाव दें या न दे ।
  • लोकसभा इन सुझावों को न माने तो भी विधेयक अपने मूल रूप में दोनों सदनों द्वारा पारित माना जाता है।
  • राज्यसभा किसी भी वित्त विधेयक को केवल 14 दिन तक रोक सकती है।
  1. कार्यपालिका पर नियंत्रण –
  • प्रशासन चलाने वाली कार्यपालिका को व्यवस्थापिका का विश्वास प्राप्त होना अनिवार्य है |
  • कार्यपालिका के निचले सदन के प्रति उत्तरदायी होने के कारण लोकसभा प्रशासन पर अपना नियंत्रण बनाए रखती है।
  • यदि कार्यपालिका लोकसभा का विश्वास प्राप्त करने में असमर्थ हो तो उसे त्याग पत्र देना पड़ता है।
  • संविधान ने लोकसभा को यह शक्ति दी है कि वह सरकार के क्रिया-कलापों पर दिन-प्रतिदिन निगरानी रखे।
  • मंत्री भी इस तथ्य से भलीभांति अवगत हैं कि उनको उनके कार्यों के लिए संसद में उत्तरदायी ठहराया जा सकता है।
  • अविश्वास मत के अतिरिक्त लोकसभा कई अन्य विधियों से भी कार्यपालिका पर नियंत्रण बनाए रख सकती है।

4.संशोधन संबंधी कार्य –

  • लोकसभा राज्यसभा के साथ मिलकर संविधान में संशोधन कर सकती है।
  • संविधान में संशोधन संबंधी विधेयक संसद के किसी भी सदन में प्रस्तावित किया जा सकता है |
  • यदि दोनों सदनों में गतिरोध की स्थिति हो तो संयुक्त अधिवेशन का कोई प्रावधान नहीं है।

5. निर्वाचन संबंधी कार्य –

संविधान ने संसद को कुछ चुनाव संबंधी शक्तियां दी हैं।

लोकसभा, राज्यसभा तथा राज्यों की विधान सभाओं से मिलकर राष्ट्रपति का निर्वाचन करती है।

लोकसभा और राज्यसभा उपराष्ट्रपति का निर्वाचन भी करते हैं।

  1. विविध कार्य –
  • लोकसभा तथा राज्यसभा दोनों उच्चतम न्यायालय एवं उच्च न्यायालयों के किसी न्यायाधीश को उसके असंविधानिक या अनैतिक व्यवहार के आधार पर हटाने का प्रस्ताव रख सकती हैं।
  • ऐसा प्रस्ताव दोनों सदनों के दो तिहाई बहुमत से पारित होना आवश्यक है।
  • दोनों सदनों द्वारा राष्ट्रपति पर भी महाभियोग चलाया जा सकता है।
  • उपराष्ट्रपति को हटाने के लिए राज्यसभा द्वारा पारित प्रस्ताव का अनुमोदन भी लोकसभा करती है।
  • दोनों सदन मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त तथा महा लेखा परीक्षक के हटाए जाने की सिफारिश कर सकते हैं।
  • राष्ट्रपति द्वारा घोषित आपातकालीन स्थिति के बारे में स्वीकृति या उस की अवधि बढ़ाने के लिए स्वीकृति संसद के दोनों सदन प्रदान करते हैं।
  • विभिन्न विभागों द्वारा बनाए गए नियम तथा कानूनों को स्वीकृति प्रदान की जाती है।
  • समय-समय पर किसी महत्वपूर्ण विषय के लिए सरकार द्वारा गठित आयोग की रिपोर्ट पर भी लोकसभा तथा राज्यसभा दोनों विचार करते हैं।

Most of the atmosphere is nitrogen, which can be absorbed by soil bacteria to help plants grow. Carbon dioxide and oxygen gases in the atmosphere are also needed for life. Plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.

There is no thing as left hand thumb rule. Maxwell's right hand thumb rule states if we hold a conductor in our hand and keep the direction of the thumb in the direction of the current then the direction of our curved finger will point towards the direction of the magnetic field lines. If the current flows upward then the magnetic field line flows anti-clockwise and if the current flows downwards the the magnetic field lines flows clockwise.

A fuse that has a lower rating would result in a problem as one may need to frequently change it. A fuse that has a higher rating would not melt at higher currents too . this may lead to damage to the appliance. Therefore, the fuse should be replaced with that of an identical rating.

Differences between first and second-generation computer

1) The first generation computer made use of vacuum tubes as internal component, whereas transistors were used in the second generation.

2) First generation computers operate in Machine language, while that of the second generation operate in assembly language.

3) The first generation computer was a low speed computer, in contrast to the second generation computer which was 10 times faster.

4) First generation computers are large in size, while computers of the second generation are smaller and more portable.

5) The main memory of the first generation computer is in form of magnetic drum, while the main memory of the second generation computer is in form of RAM and ROM.

6) In the first generation, Magnetic tapes were used for computer storage, while in the second generation, magnetic core technology was used.

7) The first generation computer generates a lot of heat thereby consuming high power. While the second generation computer generates less heat and consumes low power.

8) The first generation computers made use of punched cards which were not in use in the second generation.

9) Second generation computer has a wider commercial use and more reliability than the first generation computer

10) Lastly, the second generation computer differs from the First generation mainly because of its addition of set of index registers and arithmetic circuits.
