Hemodialysis is a method for removing waste products such as creatinine and urea, as well as free water from the blood when the kidneys are in kidney failure. The mechanical device used to clean the patients blood is called a dialyser, also known as an artificial kidney.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 5 months ago

Artificial kidneys consists of a number of tubes with semi-permeable lining (selective permeable membrane). These tubes are suspended in a tank filled with dialysing fluid. The dialysing fluid has the same osmotic pressure as blood. This fluid does not contain nitrogenous wastes.
Working: The blood of the patient is passed through dialysing tubes. As blood passes through tubes, the waste products (e.g., urea) from the blood pass into dialysing fluid by diffusion. The purified blood is pumped back into the patient artificial kidney does filtration but no reabsorption, like kidney.

Let's assume to the contrary that 3+root 2 is rational. Therefore converting it in the form a/b where a and b are co primes. therefore a/b =3+root2 a/b-3=root2 Now since a and b are integers so a/b-3 is rational. Thus root 2 is rational. But it contradicts the fact that root 2 is irrational. This contradiction arouse due to incorrect assumption that 3+root 2 is rational. Thus 3+root 2 is irrational.

Ionic compounds have high melting points because there is a strong electrostatic force of attraction between the oppositely charged ions and hence a large amount of energy is required to break the strong bonding force between ions.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

  • Ionic compounds have an equal number of positive and negative ions arranged in the three-dimensional lattice due to which they have high melting points.
  • The strong force of attraction between oppositely charged ions means that ionic compounds have high melting and boiling points.
  • When dissolved in water ionic compounds form a solution in which ions can move. This means that these solutions can conduct electricity.
  • Similarly, if ionic compounds are heated up so that they melt the ions can move and molten ionic compounds can also conduct electricity.

Given=> x + y = 14. .... equation 1
x - y = 4. ...... equation 2

Now, we will solve it by substitution method;

Let's take equation 1 =>
x + y = 14
x = 14 - y

Put the value of x in equation 2=>

x - y = 4
=> 14 - y - y = 4
=> 2y = 14 - 4
=> y = 10/2
=> y = 5

Now, put the value of y in equation 1 =>

x + y = 14
=> x + 5 = 14
=> x = 9

Therefore the value of x = 9 and y = 5

We are supposed to find the square root of 5 up to 3 decimal places

Number = 5

Group the digits into pairs

For digits to the left of the decimal point, pair them from right to left.

For digits after decimal point, pair them from left to right

So, we have, 05

Refer the attached figure for the steps to be followed

So, √5 = 2.236

Hence  the value of root 5 up to 3 decimal places is 2.236

The poem describes a girl named Amanda and her mother who is nagging her for her mistakes. She is first pointed out most probably by her mother for biting her nails and for not sitting in the right posture. The mother also feels that Amanda sits in a very lazy manner. To this, Amanda imagines herself as a mermaid who lives a calm and relaxing life in the beautiful green sea. Further, she is nagged for not cleaning her room and shoes and also for not doing her homework. She then imagines herself to be an orphan because she is now fed up of being watched by her parents continuously. She says that she would have enjoyed her freedom then, by making the patterns of her bare feet on the sand and would live a peaceful life. Next, Amanda is scolded for eating too many chocolates as this causes pimples. She is also scolded for not listening to her mother. So, now Amanda thinks of being Rapunzel, a character from a fairy tale and wants to live in a huge tower like her. In the tower she will be alone and will live a peaceful life and will never allow anyone to come in. Finally, the mother asks her to stop being moody because she doesn’t want anyone to blame her for harassing her daughter. At this time the poet has not written any reaction from Amanda’s side. This constant nagging has made her so sad that she has even stopped to imagine herself as someone else. She used to do so in order to escape from the continuous harassment and dominance of her parents.

The central idea of the poem revolves around how a child is constantly nagged by her mother. • The poetess sheds light on how a child is always monitored and questioned about her actions by her mother. Therefore, Amanda dreams to get away from her troubles.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 5 months ago

Central Idea of the Poem
The poem deals with the upbringing of a small child, Amanda. It highlights the struggles faced by the child. Poet Robin Klein makes an important point that a child should never be denied freedom.
Though it is parents who are responsible for proper upbringing of their child but that should not make a child feel trapped. Here, Amanda is prepared to be acceptable in society, and this training needs her freedom to be cut short. Her imagination is not given enough space, thus making her so angry that she wishes to be an orphan. The continuous nagging has, thus, made her moody.
