Corrosion is a natural process that converts a refined metal into a more chemically-stable form such as oxide, hydroxide, or sulfide. It is the gradual destruction of materials (usually a metal) by chemical and/or electrochemical reaction with their environment.
Advantages of corrosion:
- Protection : Surface corrosion forms an oxide layer which further protects the inner metal form corrosion.
- Corrosion prevents corrosion : Some metals like zinc are used as sacrificial anodes to prevent corrosion to other metal.
- Galvanic corrosion : The principle on which primary batteries work.
The main disadvantages of corrosion of metal are:
- Lose of metal from the surface.
- Change in the physical appearance of a metal object.
- Change in chemical properties of metal.
- Lose of the efficiency of metallic machines.
- A decrease in the life span of metallic objects.

Expert Answer:

X/2 + Y/3 = 2 → 3X + 2Y = 12.....(i)
X/3 + Y/2 = 13/6 → 2X + 3Y = 13....(ii)
Adding (i) and (ii) we get X = 2
Subtracting (ii) from (i) we get Y = 3
1/x = 2 and 1/y = 3
x = 1/2 and y = 1/3

Let P(-1, 6) divides the line segment joining the points A(-3, 10) and B(6, -8) in the ratio K : 1.
Then the co-ordinates of P are given by

Here, we have
x1 = -3, y1 = 10
x2 = 6, y2 = -8
and m1 = K, m2 = 1
So, the co-ordinates of P are

But the co-ordinates of P are given as P(-1, 6)

Hence, required ratio = 2 : 7.

Magnesium ribbon should be cleaned with sandpaper before burning in the air because of the following reasons:
- Magnesium very reactive element which rapidly reacts with oxygen in the air to form a white layer of magnesium oxide and this layer will not burn.
- To remove the Magnesium oxide layer from the ribbon which may prevent or slow down the burning of
- magnesium ribbon.
- Unwanted impurities deposited on the magnesium ribbon can be removed and only pure magnesium can be used for the reaction.

Hydrogen is a nonmetal and is placed above group in the periodic table because it has ns1 electron configuration like the alkali metals. However, it varies greatly from the alkali metals as it forms cations (H+) more reluctantly than the other alkali metals.

The heart is roughly triangular in shape. It has four compartments called chambers inside it. The upper two chambers of the heart are called atria and the lower two chambers are called ventricles. The atria receive blood from the two main veins. The left atrium is connected to the left ventricle through a valve V1 and the right atrium is connected to the right ventricle through another valve V2. These valves prevent the backflow of blood into atria when the ventricles contract to pump blood out of the heart to the rest of the body because when the ventricles contract, the valves V1 and V2 close automatically so that the blood may not go back into the atria. The job of heart is to pump blood around our body. All the atria and ventricles of the heart contract and relax at appropriate times and make the heart behave like a pump. A sheath of tissue called pericardium protects the muscular heart.

The function of human heart :-
* It is a four chambered structure consisting - the right auricle , the left auricle , right ventricle and left ventricle.
* The Auricles are smaller and placed above the ventricles. Auricles are partitioned by a muscular called septum.
* The right auricle receives the deoxygenated blood from all parts of the body except the lungs. It pumps this blood into the right ventricle. Then , the right ventricle pumps the deoxygenated blood to the lungs. The left auricle receives oxygenated blood from the lungs through pulmonary veins. It pumps this blood into the left ventricle. The left ventricle pumps the oxygenated blood to the distant organs in the body.
* Each auricle communicates with the ventricle of its side by a pore which is guarded by valves. These valves allow the blood to flow from the auricles to the ventricles but check its return to the auricles. Thus , the heart there is a complete separation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. The heart is enclosed in a double membrane called pericardium. It contains fluid which protects the heart from any shock or mechanical injury.
*The heart collects blood through both the auricles and then distributes it through ventricles. The action of heart includes contraction and relaxation of the auricles and ventricles.
* A contraction of heart is called systole and diastole. The contraction and relaxation occur in an automatic rhythmic fashion. The auricles and ventricles contract alternately. The rhythmic contraction and relaxation of heart is called a heart beat.

Joule's law states the amount of heat production in a conductor is : Directly proportional to the square of electric current flowing through it. Is directly proportional to the resistance of the conductor. Directly proportional to the time for which electric current flows through the conductor. Joule's law of heating states that when a current 'i ' passes through a conductor of resistance 'r' for time 't' then the heat developed in the conductor is equal to the product of the square of the current, the resistance and time. H = i 2 rt. Electric arc and electric welding also work on the principle of heating effect of current. In some cases such as transformers and dynamos, Joule heating effect is undesirable. These devices are designed in such a way as to reduce the loss of energy due to heating.

When alkali (base) reacts with metal, it produces salt and hydrogen gas. Example: Sodium hydroxide gives hydrogen gas and sodium zincate when reacts with zinc metal. Sodium aluminate and hydrogen gas are formed when sodium hydroxide reacts with aluminium metal. The reaction of acids and bases with metals. In general, acids react with metals to give salt and release hydrogen gas. In general, bases do not react with metals and release hydrogen gas.

-√(2/3),√(2/3) are zeroes of the given polynomial
Explanation:
Given Quadratic polynomial p(x) = 3x²-2
i) To find the zeroes of p(x),
we must take p(x)=0
3x²-2 = 0
=> 3x² = 2
=> x² = 2/3
=> x = ±√(2/3)
Verification:
Let m,n are two zeroes of the polyomial,
m = -√(2/√3)and n = √(2/3)
Compare p(x) with ax²+bx+c , we get
a = 3 , b = 0 , c=-2
i) sum of the zeroes =
= -√(2/3)+√(2/3)
= 0
=
ii) Product of the zeros
= [-√(2/3)][√(2/3)]
= -2/3

Griffin was the lead character in the novel. He was an albino. Though he had many great qualities, yet he had many flaws in his character. Griffin was a man who had no conscience, was callous towards other people and simply self-centered. He appeared to be at war with the entire mankind. All his actions stemmed from his desire to save himself, with not a thought of care and sympathy for others. He did many mean acts in the novel. When he was short of money he continued his experiments, without any thoughts of the consequences, he robed his own father, who committed suicide because the money was not his. He attended his father’s funeral without feeling sorry for his own act; instead he blamed his father for being a sentimental fool. He experimented on a cat, with no concern for the poor creature’s cries of pain. He threw it out and never tried to find whether it was alive or dead. He burnt down the house at Great Portland Street when the landlord and his sons found about his experiments and were horrified. He was only worried about covering his trail.
Even after becoming invisible he committed one brutal act after another, not because they were necessary for his survival, but simply because he enjoyed doing them. The way he looted his owner of a small costume shop, and left after striking the old man on his head, spoke volumes about his inhumanity. He terrorized Marvel when he was on the run, fought with the policemen. His plan to spread reign of terror among people using his powers of invisibility really shocked Dr. Kemp. He even tried to kill him for betraying him. In his final run from the people hunting him, he killed an old man with a rod because he bumped into him.

The reactants, A and B, combine to form a new single product, AB, which is always a compound. An example of a combination reaction is when hydrogen and chlorine react to form hydrochloric acid: The subscripts in the chemical reaction in this image refer to the states of matter. A combination reaction is a reaction in which two reactants combine to form one product. Oxygen and the halogens are very reactive elements and are likely to undergo combination reactions with other elements.
Laws of Chemical Combination
- Law of Conservation of Mass. It states that matter can neither be created nor destroyed.
- Law of Definite Proportions. It stated that a given compound always contains exactly the same proportion of elements by weight. ...
- Law of Multiple Proportions. ...
- Gay Lussac's Law of Gaseous Volumes. ...

The First World War created a new economic and political situation.
• It led to a huge increase in defence expenditure which was financed by war loans and increasing taxes
• customs duties were raised and income tax introduced.
• Through the war years prices increased - doubling between 1913 and 1918 - leading to extreme hardship for the common people.
• Villages were called upon to supply soldiers, and the forced recruitment in rural areas caused widespread anger.
• Then in 1918-19 and 1920-21, crops failed in many parts of India, resulting in acute shortages of food.
• This was accompanied by an influenza epidemic.
• According to the census of 1921, 12 to 13 million people perished as a result of famines and the epidemic.
• People hoped that their hardships would end after the war was over. But that did not happen.

Joule’s law of heating states that when a current ‘i ' passes through a conductor of resistance ‘r’ for time ‘t’ then the heat developed in the conductor is equal to the product of the square of the current, the resistance and time.
H = i 2 rt
The reason behind the heat produced is the collision of the free electrons with the lattice ions or atoms while accelerating in presence of the external electric field.
we know that
volt= work done/ total charge or v = w/q
from this we get w= vq
we know that current i = q / t
so q = it
putting this in prev equation
we get w = vit
from ohms law v = ir
putting it in prev eq we get
w = irit = i2rt joule as work is stored as heat soH = I2RT Joules
