Here ABC is an equilateral triangle with each side as 'a'.
therefore AD Is the altitude which bisects the base BC into 2 equal halves.
therefore in triangle ABD
AD^2+BD^2=AB^2 ( Pythagoras theorem)
=>AD=√a^2-a^2/4
=>AD=√3a/2.
therefore altitude of the triangle is √3a/2.

6. A cottage industry produces a certain number of pottery articles in a day. It was observed on a particular day that cost of production of each article (in rupees) was 3 more than twice the number of articles produced on that day. If, the total cost of production on that day was Rs. 90, find the number of articles produced and the cost of each article.
Ans. Let cost of production of each article be Rs x
We are given total cost of production on that particular day = Rs 90
Therefore, total number of articles produced that day = 90/x
According to the given conditions,

⇒
⇒
⇒
⇒
⇒
⇒x (x − 15) + 12 (x − 15) = 0
⇒(x − 15) (x + 12) = 0⇒x = 15, −12
Cost cannot be in negative, therefore, we discard x = −12
Therefore, x = Rs 15 which is the cost of production of each article.
Number of articles produced on that particular day =
= 6

In the story His First Flight by Liam O’ Flaherty, the mother’s role in teaching the growing babies has been highlighted. The young seagull had fear of jumping from the high sea ledge to fly; his brother and sister had already made their first flight. Everyone was waiting for him to jump and fly and join them on the plateau. He kept sitting on the ledge feeling hungry.
The mother seagull conceived of a plan; she broke a piece of meat from a fish and flew up to the ledge. But she did not go very lose to him. She kept hovering a little away from the ledge. The young seagull in an attempt to take food from his mother, fell from the ledge; this fall compelled him to open his wings. And soon he was flying.

Mrs Pumphrey was a rich woman who loved her dog very much. She loved to live a comfortable and lavish life and also wanted her dog to spend a similar one. She had maintained a wardrobe full of fancy fur coats, dresses, beds etc for Tricki. Apart from this, she used to overfeed Tricki out of her love and concern. She used to serve him cod-liver oil and malt between the main meals and Horlicks after dinner to give him strength. She never realised that Tricki was a greedy dog and this would spoil his health. She could not even refuse to answer Tricki drooling for cream cakes and chocolates. Her overfeeding worsened Tricki’s condition. This made the dog lazy, inactive and obese. He used to lie on his rug and pant all day long. Mrs Pumphrey fed him excessively, spoiling Tricki’s health to such an extent that he had to be hospitalised. Even in the hospital she continued to convey Tricki her love through eggs, wine and brandy. Her fondness and care for Tricki proved that excess of everything made him fall sick.

Cell division happens when a parent cell divides into two or more cells called daughter cells. Cell division usually occurs as part of a larger cell cycle. All cells reproduce by splitting into two, where each parental cell gives rise to two daughter cells.
There are two distinct types of cell division out of which the first one is vegetative division, wherein each daughter cell duplicates the parent cell called mitosis. The second one is meiosis, which divides into four haploid daughter cells.
