Some students of the Hindu College who gathered round their teacher Derozio came to be known as the ‘Young Bengal’. Those English-educated youngmen addressed themselves to various problems that beset the Indian society.

Their propaganda for freedom of thought and rational thinking helped to create a consciousness about the various problems of the country and thereby paved the way for the growth of national sentiments.

Lencho is the main character of the story “The Letter to God.” He is a poor farmer who is the sole bread-earner of the family. He had faith in God. Lencho lived in a small house which was situated on the crest of a low hill in the valley.  Throughout the morning Lencho sat in his house and waited for the rain to come. He wished for the rain or the shower for his field in which he had grown his crops.  Lencho wrote the letter to God as he thought that he would be the only one to help him in his bad times. He wrote a letter addressing to God to send him 100 pesos so that he and his family can survive in such a difficult situation.

The postman in the story "A Letter to God" was of a very humble and kind in nature. When he saw that a person had written a letter addressing to the God he read the letter and decided to help the innocent person. He very well knew that there is no address of God to which he will deliver Lencho's letter. Hence he decided to not let Lencho's emotions down and help him by contributing money. But after seeing Lencho second letter everyone including the postman felt very sad as he had complained to God about the people working the post office.

The postmaster was a fat and amiable fellow. He was a sensible and a compassionate human being who was amazed by the depth of faith in God that is shown by Lencho. Although at first he was amused by Lencho’s letter to God, he became serious and wanted to help Lencho because he didn’t want his faith to be shaken.

The postmaster himself gave a part of his salary and also requested his employees and a few friends to contribute for charity. He felt happy and satisfied when Lencho received the money. This shows that he was a kind and empathetic person as well. He loved to help others.

In a democracy, the three organs of the government namely executive, legislature and judiciary perform different functions. The powers of all the three organs are separated so that no organ becomes too powerful and is able to keep a check on the other organs. For example, even though ministers and government officials exercise power, they are held responsible to the Parliament or the State Assemblies. Likewise, although judges are appointed by the executive branch of the government, they have the authority to check the functioning of the executive or legislations passed by the legislature. This arrangement is called the system of checks and balances.

  • Every loan agreement specifies an interest rate which the borrower must pay to the lender along with repayment of the principal.
  • In addition, lender may demand collateral, i.e., an asset that the borrower owns and uses this as a guarantee until the loan is repaid.
  • If the borrower fails to repay the loan, the lender has the right to sell the collateral to obtain payment.
  • Terms of credit comprise interest rate, collateral and documentation requirement, and the mode of repayment.
    *The terms of credit vary substantially from one credit arrangement to another. They may vary depending on the nature of the lender and the borrower.

Series Parallel
The same amount of current flows through all the components The current flowing through each component combines to form the current flow through the source.
In an electrical circuit, components are arranged in a line In an electrical circuit, components are arranged parallel to each other
When resistors are put in a series circuit, the voltage across each resistor is different even though the current flow is the same through all of them. When resistors are put in a parallel circuit, the voltage across each of the resistors is the same. And even the polarities are the same
If one component breaks down, the whole circuit will burn out. Other components will function even if one component breaks down, each has its own independent circuit
If Vt is the total voltage then it is equal to V1+V2+V3 If Vt is the total voltage then it is equal to V1=V2=V3

Lens : A lens is a piece of a transparent, refracting medium bounded by two surfaces, of which one is atleast a curved surface.
The commonly used lenses are the spherical lenses, which have either both surfaces spherical or one spherical and the other a plane one.
Spherical lenses are of two main types:

1) Convex or converging lens: A lens which is thicker at the centre than at the edges is called a convex lens. It converges a parallel beam of light on refraction through it and has a real focus.

2) Concave or diverging lens: The lens which is thinner at the centre than at the edges is called a concave or diverging lens. It diverges a beam of light on refraction through it or we can say a ray of light which is incident on the surface of the mirror, appears to converge after refraction. Hence, it has a virtual focus.

Urethra

It is a tube-like structure that connects the urinary bladder to the urinary meatus. In males, the urethra travels through the ***** and is mainly involved in two main functions:

  • This region is included in the urinary tract that takes urine from the bladder where semen is ejaculated.
  • The Prostate exists beneath the bladder and covers the urethra. The prostate grows larger with age. If the prostate grows too much, it can block the urine flow through the urethra and be responsible for some urinary symptoms.

It is to be known that the carbonates that are present in the salt of carbonic acid possessing a carbonate ion. On the other hand, The carbonates of Hydrogen are formed when CO2 is reacting with water.

The ethanoic acid combined with carbonates, as well as the carbonates of Hydrogen leads to the production of salt, C02 and H20. This salt that is formed is known as the sodium acetate.

CO2(aq)+H2O---> H(+) + HCO3-

2CH3COOH + NA2CO3---> 2CH3COONa+H2O+CO2

CH3COOH+NaHCO3---> CH3COONa+H2O+CO2

Frédéric Sorrieu was a French artist. In 1848, he prepared a series of four prints visualising his dream of a world made up of ‘democratic and social Republics’,. The first print of the series, shows the peoples of Europe and America – men and women of all ages and social classes – marching in a long train, and offering homage to the statue of Liberty as they pass by it.
