Let the three numbers in AP be a-d, a, a+d
Then,
sum = a-d+a+a+d=15
3a = 15
So, a = 5
Also, Sum of squares = 83
(a-d)2+a2+(a+d)2=83
(5-d)2+25+(5+d)2=83
25+d2-10d+25+25+d2+10d=83
75+2d2=83
2d2=8
d=+2 or -2
When d = 2,
The numbers are 3, 5, 7
When d = -2,
The numbers are 7, 5, 3

The hardships ended with the war as the British introduced the Rowlatt Act
- First of all, the war created a new economic and political situation. It led to a huge increase in defence expenditure which was financed by war loans and increasing taxes: customs duties were raised and income tax introduced.
- Throughout the war, prices doubled, which led to extreme hardships for the common people between 1913 & 1918. Villages had been requested to provide soldiers, and forcible rural recruitment caused widespread indignation. Crops had failed in several parts of India in 1918-19 and 1920-21. This added to extreme food shortages.
- This was combined with an outbreak of influenza. 12 to 13 million people died in famines and plague, according to the 1921 census. People hoped that after the battle, their troubles could cease. That didn't happen, though.
- The British government passed the infamous Rowlatt Act which gave enormous powers to the police to arrest any person without any reason whatsoever.The Act was meant to curtail the country's increasing nationalist upsurge. Gandhi urged the population to fight the oppressive act "Satyagraha"

The excerpt is taken from the biographical account of Harriet Tubman titled, ‘Harriet Tubman, The Moses of Her People’. This is a story of a woman who suffered because of racial discrimination, but she did fight against slavery, helped her family and members of her community to free themselves from the clutches of the perpetrators of their suffering. She was grateful to her friend, Frederick Douglass, who had hidden her, and some runaway slaves more than once in his home in Rochester. Read the passage (a letter to Harriet by Frederick Douglass) given below and answer the questions that follow. "The difference between us is very marked. Most that I have done and suffered in the service of our cause has been in public, and I have received much encouragement at every step of the way. You, on the other hand, have laboured in a private way. I have wrought in the day—you in the night. I have had the applause of the crowd and the satisfaction that comes of being approved by the multitude, while the most you have done witnessed by few trembling, scared, and footsore bondmen and women, whom you have led out of the house of bondage, and whose heartfelt God bless you has been your only reward. The midnight sky and the silent stars have been the witnesses of your devotion to freedom and your heroism." When years later, in her old age, a reporter for the New York Herald Tribune came to interview her one afternoon at her home in Auburn, he wrote that, as he was leaving, Harriet looked towards an orchard nearby and said, "Do you like apples?" On being assured that the young man liked them, she asked, "Did you ever plant any apples?" The writer confessed that he had not. "No" said the old woman, "but somebody else planted them". I liked apples when I was young. And I said, "Someday I’ll plant apples myself for other young folks to eat. And I guess I did." Her apples were the apples of freedom. Harriet Tubman lived to see the harvest. Her home in Auburn, New York, is preserved as a memorial to her planting. (Source: Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People, by Langston Hughes) Q.1. What had Harriet done for herself and her community? Q.2. What was the title of the first book written on Harriet Tubman and who wrote it? Q.3. How had Harriet’s life been hard, but dedicated to a cause? Q.4. What comparison had Frederick drawn between his and Harriet’s life? Q.5. Tick the correct answers. Harriet had been grateful to Frederick because: (a) Frederick was her neighbour. ( ) (b) Harriet took financial help from Frederick. ( ) (c) Harriet revolted as a slave and ran away from her master’s house and Frederick gave her shelter. ( ) (d) Frederick hid other slaves in his house whom Harriet had inspired to run away. ( ) Q.6. Tick the correct answer. ‘footsore bondmen and women’ means: (a) Bondaged men and women had to work day and night. ( ) (b) Bondmen and women suffered from foot diseases. ( ) (c) Bondmen and women were bonded labourers. ( ) (d) Bondaged men and women had wounded and tired feet because they ran for days together to safe places from the house of their masters. ( )

Quantization of charge implies that charge can assume only certain discrete values. That is to say the observed value of electric charge (q) of a particle will be integral multiples of (e) 1.6×10−19 coulombs.
i.e.
q=ne where n=0,1,2,.... (both positive and negative integers)
The charge cannot assume any value between the integers.

Principles of effective communication
The principle of clarity: A message should be clear, free from distortion and noise. A vague message is not only a barrier to creating effective communication but also causes the delay in the communication process and this is one of the most important principles of effective communication.
Principles of Brevity: A communication should be brief i.e. just necessary and sufficient. Repetition and over-explanation are likely to destroy the actual meaning and importance of the message. Moreover, the reader may feel disturbed by receiving a long message.
The principle of Simplicity: Message should be given using simple and familiar words. Vague and technical words should be avoided. Simple words are easy to understand and help the receiver to respond quickly.
The principle of Timeliness: Communication is mean to serve a specific purpose. If communication is made in time, communication becomes effective. If it is made untimely then it may become useless.
The principle of Compass: The communication net should cover the whole organization. The concerned people must know “What exactly they need and “When they need it. And an effective communication will serve such.
The principle of Integrity: Communication should consider the level of people, principles & objectives of an Organization to create a network or chain. Such network will provide a better field of internal and external communication.
The principle of strategic use of Informal Organization: The most effective communication results when managers use the informal organization as a complementary to formal communication, e.g. arranging sports, cultural function & dinner for the employees can be informal organization

When a negative charge is brought near one end of a conductor electrons are repelled. When electric voltage is applied, an electric field within the metal triggers the movement of the electrons, making them shift from one end to another end of the conductor. Electrons will move toward the positive side. Electric charge can also be carried by ions in an electrolyte, or by both ions and electrons such as in an ionised gas. Electrons flow from negative terminal to positive terminal which results in current flow in opposite direction. ... In any circuit, electrons constitute the flow of charges.

8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56,64
These are in an A.P., having first term as 8 and common difference as 8.
Therefore, a = 8
d = 8
S15 = ?
Sn = n/2 [2a + (n - 1)d]
S15 = 15/2 [2(8) + (15 - 1)8]
= 15/2[6 + (14) (8)]
= 15/2[16 + 112]
= 15(128)/2
= 15 × 64
= 960

The sky appears blue when the scattering of light takes place through the atmosphere.The blue color of the sky is due to scattering of light from the atmosphere.As there is no atmosphere in space and hence light does not scatter into its constituent colors that is why the sky appears dark instead of blue to an astronaut in space.
Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago
Scattering of light is the phenomenon that causes the sky to appear blue. Fine dust in the earth's atmosphere scatters the sunlight. Out of all the constituent colours of sunlight, blue colour is scattered the most. Thus, the sky appears blue to us. However, an astronaut in space does not have an atmosphere surrounding him. Thus, there is no question of scattering of light. Thus, the sky appears dark instead of blue to an astronaut.

Resource Planning. Resource planning refers to the strategy for planned and judicious utilisation of resources. Resource planning is essential for sustainable existence of all forms of life.
Resource planning is essential for India as there is enormous diversity in the availability of resources. For example the state of Rajasthan has vast potential for the development of solar and wind energy but is deficient in water resources.
The cold desert of Ladakh has rich cultural heritage but is deficient in water and some strategic minerals.
The state of Arunachal Pradesh has abundance of water resources but lacks infrastructure which shows mere availability of resources in the absence of technology and institutions hinders development.
This shows that the resource planning is needed at the national, regional, state and local levels for balanced development of a country.

Carbon dioxide reacts with limewater (a solution of calcium hydroxide, Ca(OH) 2), to form a white precipitate (appears milky) of calcium carbonate, CaCO 3. Adding more carbon dioxide results in the precipitate dissolving to form a colourless solution of calcium hydrogencarbonate.
Ca(OH)2+CO2→CaCO3+H2O
When carbon dioxide is passed through lime water, it turns milky due to formation of white precipitate in form of calcium carbonate.

A modal is a type of auxiliary (helping) verb that is used to express: ability, possibility, permission or obligation. Modal phrases (or semi-modals) are used to express the same things as modals, but are a combination of auxiliary verbs and the preposition to. There are ten types of modal verbs: can, could, may, might, will, would, shall, should, must, ought to. Can (or cannot/can't) shows ability, in the sense of knowing how or being able to do something. In informal situations, it expresses permission, in the sense of being allowed to do something. There are ten common modal auxiliary verbs and they are 'can', 'could', 'will', 'would', 'shall', 'should', 'may', 'might', 'must' and 'ought'.
