THERE are certain goals which are same and common for all. These are common developmental goals that people have not only about better income but also about other important things in life. More income or more material goods do not always provide us good quality of life. There are other aspect such as equal treatment, freedom, security, opportunity to learn, good working condition, pollution free atmosphere, job security and good social life which are very important for a good quality of life. Money or material things that one can buy with it, is one factor on which our life depends. But quality of our life also depends on non-material things, for example - the role of our friends in our life which cannot be measured but means a lot to us.

Cause of heating effect of electric current: Electric current generates heat to overcome the resistance offered by the conductor through which it passes. Higher the resistance, the electric current will generate higher amount of heat. Thus, generation of heat by electric current while passing through a conductor is an inevitable consequence. This heating effect is used in many appliances, such as electric iron, electric heater, electric geyser, etc.

The most suitable method for preventing an iron frying pan from rusting is applying a coat of zinc. This is called galvanization. Grease and paint are also used for prevent rusting from iron. However, in case of iron frying pan, grease and paint cannot be applied because when fan will be heated and washed again and again, the coating of grease and paint would get destroyed.

The democratic system in Belgium is an ideal example of power sharing.It had accommodated the interests of its two main ethnic groups, that is, the Dutch and the French.The two groups have equal share in the working of government. To maintain political stability and unity, equal representation had to be provided to the two social groups. Both French and Dutch speaking ministers are in the central government. Many powers of the central government has also been distributed among the state governments of both French and Dutch speaking regions. Apart from this, a community government also exists which is elected by people belonging to one language community.Such an arrangement has prevented civil strife.But Sri Lankan democracy has followed majoritarian policies which gave preferences to the interests of the majority Sinhala community neglecting the Tamil minority.The interests of the Tamils were undermined which in the long run gave rise to civil war and political instability.

two sharp contrasts between Belgium and Sri Lanka are
1)Sri Lankan government supported majority of sinhalese people and they made laws and job opportunities supporting Sri Lankan people they made tamils who were in less population feel inferior.
1)but Belgium government changed their constitution so many times and they gave equal representation to Dutch and French people.
2)tamils were protesting against Sri Lanka people and they liberated there party to fight with them which is LTTE and Sri Lanka government suppressed them and this led to serious war between both parties and tamils were killed and thrown out. this created heavy economic loss to Sri Lanka and their government took so much time to fill that damage
2) but in Belgium there was no chance for anything like this because their government took very careful steps that no one should feel inferior and all were equal central and state government representatives . everything was peaceful in Belgium.

Some reforms to strengthen parties are:
- A law should be made to regulate the internal affairs of political parties.
- It should be mandatory for political parties to give a minimum number of tickets, about 1/3rd to the women candidates.
- There should be state funding of elections. The government should give parties money to support the election expenses.

Open unemployment is the situation when a person is willing to work, is educated but is unable to get a job and work. This kind of unemployment is clearly visible in the society. We come across many educated people who express their views saying that am graduated from such a reputed college but am still in search of a job. This kind of unemployment has different criteria in rural and urban areas. Open unemployment behaves differently in cities as well as in small towns and cities.

Although solid ionic compounds are made up of ions but they do not conduct electricity in solid state. This is because in the solid ionic compound, the ions are held together in fixed positions by strong electrostatic forces and cannot move freely. However, when we dissolve the ionic solid in water or melt it, the crystal structure is broken down and ions become free to move and conduct electricity. Thus, an aqueous solution of an ionic compound conducts electricity because there are plenty of free ions in the solution which are able to conduct electric current.

Father: Hello Son! That's good I have some free time today. I wish to discuss with you your plans for the future. Can we do it now?
Son: yes, Dad.
Father: What interests you ? What do you want to be? Have you
thought about it ?
Son: Yes. I like academics. I am good in maths and science and also I
have secured a good percentage in those subjects. I will take up
some career related to them.
Father : If you allow me, I suggest engineering or medicine, science &
research. What do you say?
Son: Well, I would like to take up medicine. I like that. It will really be
helpful to our family too.
Father: Good decision. I will join you in a good coaching center. It will
help you in your preparation.
Son: Yeah. I would love to do that. Some of my friends are also thinking
of joining the good institute near the temple. I will like to join that
institute.
Father: But are you ready to put in all that effort? It is not easy. Think
once again. If you want, we will talk to doctor too.
Son: Thanks for asking me. But, I am sure.
Father: What do you want to do when you become a doctor?
Son: Father, I would like to go to Newzeland or Russia or Singapore and
work there for some years. I want to earn a lot of money.
Father: Well, it is a good idea. You also will gain experience in using latest
techniques being used world over. You will also enjoy the foreign
people’s welcome.
Son: That is right. My friend's brother is working in Russia. He is happy there.
Perhaps he is coming here for a vacation next week. I want to meet him
and learn a few things.
Father: You will also get an inspiration from meeting him. It is a good idea. I am saving
some money for your studies. That will come in handy for payment of your fees.
Son: okay father. Thanks a lot. I need to buy a book on biology. Give me four hundred
Rupees now. I want to buy it today itself.
Father: Right, let that be the starting point for your future. I wish you all
the best. Inform your mother and sister also about your plans. They
also will feel happy.

Height of first Airplane = AB = 4000 m
Height of another plane = BC
The angles of elevation of two planes from the same point on the ground are 60° and 45°. i.e.∠ADB = 60° and ∠CDB = 45°
Let AC be h
CB = AB - AC = 4000-h
In ΔABD
In ΔCBD
Hence the vertical distance between the aeroplane at that instant is 1690.599 m

Heterotrophic nutrition is the mode of nutrition in which an organism depends on other living organisms for food.
Depending on the type of food, heterotrophs can be divided into 3 types-
- Carnivores- organisms which eat only animals. Example- lion, snake.
- Herbivores- organisms which eat only plants. Example- rabbit, elephant.
Omnivores- organisms which eat both plants and animals. Example- crow, dog.

Focal length and radius of curvature:
- Let F be focus and C be center of curvature of a concave mirror.
- Consider an incident ray travelling parallel to principle axis and meet at point N.
- It passes through focus after reflection.
- CN is the normal drawn to the mirror(normals drawn to mirror meet at C).
- Now,
PC = R
PF = f
∠FNC = ∠FCN =
∠MFN = 2
- In ΔMNC
[For paraxial rays, M and P coincide]
- If
is small,
------------------------(1)
- In ΔMNF
[For paraxial rays, M and P coincide]
- If
is small,
------------------------(2)
- Substituting (1) in (2), we get
2PF = PC
R = 2f
f = R/2
- Therefore, focal length is half the radius of curvature.
In fig, theta is taken instead of alpha.

Taking a concave mirror, the curved mirror will have a principal axis near which a ray of light is incident on the mirror parellel to it.
Now the angle between the radius of curvature and principal axis will be equal to the angle at which ray is incident and due to reflections law incident angle would be equal to angle cbf.
L abc = L cbf (law of reflection)
L abc = L fcb ( alternate)
Hence, cbf = fcb ⇒ bf = fc
Since b very close to p; pf = fc ⇒ pc = 2 pf
Now considering convex mirror, similar to concave mirror L abn = L nbd {reflection law}
L abn = Lbcf {corresponding}
Hence, bf = fc
Since, b is very close to p, pf = fc ⇒ pc = 2pf
Hence, in both cases Radius is double the focal length.

Robert Frost's 'Dust of Snow' is a very short poem full of imagery. The way poet has potrayed the winter months , the hemlock tree and the crow made an image of that in the minds of people. He used hemlock tree which symbolises death and sorrow .
The poem The Dust of Snow exposes the irrelevancy of superstition which are popular among us. It is commonly believed that crow is the sign of bad omen. It bring doom and mishap. Similarly, dust refers to death (in Christian and Islamic culture) and Hemlock tree (a poisonous tree) on the other hand was used by Socrates to commit suicide.
However ironically, all these things of bad omen make the poet’s day cheerful. So, the poem depicts that we should always hope for the best and never take anything as bad omen.
