Probably, it was the narrator’s own self that helped him through the storm. There was no other plane in the storm as the woman at the control centre could see only his plane on the radar. Also, no other plane was flying that night. In his fear, he might have been hallucinating. He was a good pilot, and it might have been his own self that came to his help.

All the cinema houses make use loudspeakers for the publicity of their films. They put the loudspeakers on high pitch and force films songs on the ears of the passers- by. Not only the passers – by, even the people sitting in their houses are disturbed. Different people in different houses are faced with their own problems. The high sound of the loud- speakers disturb them. It disturbs the peace of heart patients who cannot listen to the high sound. The first person to actually isolate and note the presence of these noble gases was Henry Cavendish.
He removed all the nitrogen and oxygen chemically from a receptacle containing air. The nitrogen was oxidised to NO2 by electric discharges and absorbed by a sodium hydroxide solution. Remaining oxygen was removed from the mixture by a special adsorber. 1/120 of the gas volume remained unreacted in the receptacle. As we know today, this must have been mainly argon (99.8%) and traces (0.2%) of other noble gases.
Two reasons for late discoveries of noble gases are:
1. They are present in extremely low concentrations in our environment.
2. They are very inert.

(i) Imagine a government that may take decisions very fast. But it may take decisions that are not accepted by the people and may, therefore, face problems.
(ii) In contrast, the democratic government will take more time to follow procedure before arriving at a decision.
(iii) However, because it has followed procedure, its decisions may be more acceptable to the people and more effective. So, the cost of time that democracy pays is perhaps worth it.

he Blue Revolution in India was launched during the 7th Five Year Plan (1985-1990) during the sponsorship of the Fish Farmers Development Agency (FFDA) by the Central Government of India. Later, during the 8th Five Year Plan (1992-97), the Intensive Marine Fisheries Program was launched, and eventually, the fishing harbours in Vishakhapatnam, Kochi, Tuticorin, Porbandar, and Port Blair were also established over the time.

- Development of Inland Fisheries and Aquaculture
- National Scheme of Welfare of Fishermen
- Development of Marine Fisheries, Infrastructure and Post-Harvest Operations
- Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) and other need-based Interventions

Fuse should be placed on live wire because the live wire has the higher voltage. If the live wire is damaged inside the appliance and a large current is created, then the fuse needs to be in this part of the circuit so that it can blow. If the fuse was on neutral wire and a fault occurred on the line, then the fuse would not be in the circuit to blow off.

Save water- are we doing enough?
Earth is the only known planet in this universe where life is possible only because of the availability of water and oxygen. Water is most important necessity of life for all the living beings on the earth. Without water no one can exist even for a day. We also know that there is very less percentage of clean water means drinking water available on the earth. So, we should not waste clean water and save it for future generations.
People working in different fields need water for different purposes such as farmers need water to grow crops, gardeners to water plants, industrialists for industry work, electricity plants to generate hydro-electricity, etc. So, we should save clean water for the wellness of our future generations and healthy life of water and wildlife animals. People at many places of the world are suffering water scarcity or completely lack of water in their regions. By 2050, India will be amongst the countries which will face acute water shortage. India is one of the countries worldwide facing huge level water scarcity today. Places in India like Rajasthan and some parts of Gujarat are facing water scarcity where women and girls of the houses cover a long distance on bare foot to just get a pot of water. In some cities like Bangalore people have to buy water bottles worth Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 to drink clean water. People face more problems during summer months when the daily need of water increases. Recently, it is studied that around 25% urban population lacks availability to clean drinking water. In some areas, the privatization of water bodies is the main reason of water scarcity.
There are different methods we can follow to save clean drinking water to deal with the water scarcity. Rain water harvesting is one of the most effective and suitable method among save water techniques. Afforestation is also best method as it reduces the surface runoff and recharges the ground water. It promotes underground water conservation. By practicing such methods we can conserve more water naturally and ensure the availability of it for future generations. We should take a pledge and make a lifelong motto of “Save water, save life, save earth”.We should teach simple methods of water saving to our children, women and other members of the family like turning off all the taps tightly after each use, using sprinklers to water the lawn, giving bath to pets in the lawn, repair of all the leaking pipes, harvesting rain water for purposes like watering plant, washing clothes, etc. We should also practice keeping the river (especially Ganga) water clean and safe for future use and safety of water animals.

He walked slowly through the bazaar as he did not know anyone who would provide him shelter except Anil, for he didn’t have any friends. He was forced to take shelter under the clock tower later when it started raining heavily.

She changed her opinion when Wanda won the girl’s medal in the drawing competition. She praised wholeheartedly Wanda’s drawings. She also visited Boggins Heights and wrote letters when Wanda stopped coming to school.

1. How did the invisible man first become visible?
Ans: Griffin was completely invisible until he happened to step in some mud, which caused him to leave footprints as he walked. His footprints were seen by two boys, who followed him as long as the prints were visible. On getting rid of them, he went into a big London store to put on some warm clothes. After the store was shut, he got dressed by putting on shoes, an overcoat and a wide-brimmed hat. This made him visible to the people who came to work at the store the next day.

- Barter system is a system where goods were exchanged for goods in the olden days. Various commodities used as money is known as commodity money. It is the most primitive form of money. However, certain problems such as improper standardisation, indivisibility, storage difficulty etc. made this form of money an unsuitable medium of exchange.
- Mono-metalism and bi-metalism, i.e. valuable metals such as gold and silver, were used as a medium of exchange. As society progressed, different sections of people agreed to consider some precious metals as a common medium of exchange. The gold coin was introduced in India by King Kanishka of the Kushan Dynasty during the first century AD.
- The paper currency system is a system where coins and currency notes are used as a medium of exchange. Due to the expansion of trade and commerce and an increased demand for money as a common medium of exchange, metallic money was replaced by paper money. The Central Bank of a country assumes supreme authority in issuing paper money of definite denominations and values. A medium of exchange which is generally acceptable and enforced by law is called fiat money. For example, rupee notes and coins are legal tender.
- At the final stage of evolution of money, demand deposits with commercial banks are considered bank money. Demand deposits are current account deposits with banks or other financial institutions which are payable on demand by cheques. Thus, cheques drawn on the demand deposits of commercial banks can be used as a medium of exchange.
