Napoleon was defeated in 1815 by collective European powers i.e. Britain, Russia, Prussia, and Austria. The representatives of European powers drew up the Treaty of Vienna at a congress hosted by Austrian Chancellor Duke Metternich with the objective of undoing the changes that had come about the Europe during the Napoleonic wars. Following changes were brought about in Europe by this treaty:
• The Bourbon dynasty that was destroyed during the French Revolution was restored. French lost the territories it has annexed under Napoleon.
• A series of states were set up on the boundaries of France to prevent French expansion in future.
• The Netherlands which included Belgium was set up in the north. Genoa was added to Piedmont in the south.
• Prussia was given important new territories on its western frontiers. Austria was given control of northern Italy.
• The German confederation of 39 states set up by Napoleon was left untouched. Russia was given part of Poland and Prussia was given part of Saxony.
• Monarchy was restored and a new conservative order was created in Europe.

Demerits of Mendeleev Periodic Table
- He was unable to locate hydrogen in the periodic table.
- Increase in atomic mass was not regular while moving from one element to another. Hence, the number of elements yet to be discovered was not predictable.
- Later on, isotopes of elements were found which violated Mendeleev’s periodic law.

स्मृतियों की रेखाएँ" में संकलित "भक्तिन" महादेवी वर्मा का प्रसिद्ध संस्मरणात्मक रेखाचित्र है। इसमें महादेवी वर्मा ने अपनी सेविका भक्तिन के अतीत और वर्तमान का परिचय देते हुए उसके व्यक्तित्व का रोचक किन्तु मर्मस्पर्शी शब्द चित्रण किया है। महादेवी वर्मा हिन्दी साहित्य के छायावादी काल की प्रमुख कवयित्री है। उन्हें आधुनिक युग का मीरा भी कहा जाता है। महादेवी वर्मा ने संस्कृत से एम०ए० किया और तत्पश्चात प्रयाग-महिला विद्यापीठ की प्रधानाचार्या नियुक्त की गईं। महादेवी वर्मा ने स्वतंत्रता के पहले का भारत भी देखा और उसके बाद का भी। वे उन कवियों में से एक हैं जिन्होंने व्यापक समाज में काम करते हुए भारत के भीतर विद्यमान हाहाकार, रुदन को देखा, परखा और करुण होकर अन्धकार को दूर करने वाली दृष्टि देने की कोशिश की। उन्होंने न केवल साहित्य लिखा बल्कि पीड़ित बच्चों और महिलाओं की सेवा भी की।
महादेवी वर्मा की भाषा संस्कृतनिष्ठ सहज तथा चित्रात्मक है जिसमें हिन्दी के तद्भव व देशज शब्दों का भी प्रयोग किया गया है। इनकी कुछ प्रसिद्ध रचनाओं के नाम हैं - गिल्लू, सोना, अतीत के चलचित्र, स्मृति की रेखाएँ, हिमालय आदि।
भक्तिन का वास्तविक नाम लछमिन था। उसके चरित्र में अनेक गुण और कुछ अवगुण भी थे। बचपन में अपनी माँ का साया छूट जाने के कारण उसका जीवन संघर्षपूर्ण रहा। सौतेली माँ ने उसके साथ हमेशा बुरा व्यवहार किया। भक्तिन का पाँच वर्ष की आयु में विवाह और नौ वर्ष की छोटी आयु में ससुराल गौना हो गया जहाँ उसे पति का भरपूर प्यार तो मिला लेकिन उसके जीवन का संघर्ष उसके व्यक्तित्व का हिस्सा बनता गया। वह तीन कन्याओं की माँ बनी। सास और जेठानियों की उपेक्षा का शिकार बनी। पति उसे बहुत प्यार करता थी। लेखिका के शब्दों में -
"वह बड़े बाप की बड़ी बात वाली बेटी को पहचानता था। इसके अतिरिक्त परिश्रमी, तेजस्विनी और पति के प्रति रोम-रोम से सच्ची पत्नी को वह चाहता भी बहुत रहा होगा, क्योंकि उसके प्रेम के बल पर ही पत्नी ने अलगौझा करके सबको अँगूठा दिखा दिया।"
बड़ी बेटी का विवाह होने के बाद छत्तीस वर्ष की आयु में भक्तिन को बेसहारा छोड़कर उसका पति इस संसार से विदा हो गया। भक्तिन ने अपने केश मुंडवा कर, कंठीमाला धारण कर तथा गुरुमंत्र लेकर अपने जेठ-जेठानियों की आशाओं पर पानी फेरते हुए दोनों छोटी लड़कियों का विवाह कर अपने बड़े दामाद तथा बेटी को घर जमाई बना लिया। लेकिन बड़ी लड़की विधवा हो गई। जेठ ने विधवा लड़की की शादी साजिश के तहत अपने तीतरबाज़ साले से करवा दिया। परिवार में क्लेश होने लगा और घर की समृद्धि चली गई। जमींदार का लगान न चुकाने के कारण एक दिन ज़मींदार ने भक्तिन को दिन भर कड़ी धूप में खड़ा रखा। वह यह अपमान सह नहीं सकी और कमाने शहर, लेखिका के घर आ गई और उसकी सेविका बन गई।
भक्तिन के चरित्र की निम्नलिखित विशेषताओं ने उसे लेखिका के लिए विशेष बना दिया-
भक्तिन बहुत कर्मठ और मेहनती महिला थी। छोटी बहू होने के कारण घर-गृहस्थी के सारे कार्य का बोझ उठाती थी। वह खेती-बाड़ी की देखभाल भी करती थी।
भक्तिन का जीवन संघर्षों का दूसरा नाम था। माँ की मृत्यु के उपरांत सौतेली माँ के कटु व्यवहार से लेकर ससुराल वालों की उपेक्षा तक, पति की मृत्यु के बाद अकेले ही पारिवारिक-विवाद का सामना करना तथा गाँव से शहर आकर लेखिका के यहा~म नौकरी करने तक भक्तिन ने सदैव विषम परिस्थितियों का सामना किया।
भक्तिन बहुत स्वाभिमानी थी। जब एक दिन ज़मींदार ने लगान न चुकाने के कारण दिनभर कड़ी धूप में खड़ा रखा तब भक्तिन यह अपमान न सह सकी और अकेले ही शहर की ओर कमाने निकल पड़ी।
भक्तिन अपने पति से अत्यंत प्रेम करती थी। उसके जीवित रहते भक्तिन ने कंधे से कंधा मिलाकर घर-गृहस्थी का सारा कार्य किया। पति से कभी शिकायत तक नहीं की। पति की मृत्यु के उपरांत उसने दूसरा विवाह नहीं किया।
भक्तिन समर्पित सेविका भी थी। लेखिका ने उसे सेवक-धर्म में हनुमान जी से स्पद्र्धा करने वाली बताया है। वह लेखिका का पूरा ध्यान रखती थी। खाना बनाना, बत्रन, कपड़े, सफाई आदि तो करती ही थी साथ ही लेखिका के बाद सोती और उनसे पहले उठ जाती। वह कभी तुलसी की चाय, दही की लस्सी आदि बनाकर देती थी। लेखिका के काम जैसे चित्र उठाकर रखना, रंग की प्याली धोना, दवात देना, काग़ज़ संभाल देना आदि कार्य कर देती थी। बदरी-केदार के दुर्गम मार्ग में वह लेखिका के आगे तथा धूल भरे रास्ते में वह पीछे रहती ताकि लेखिका को किसी तरह का कष्ट न हो। वह जेल के नाम से डरती थी पर सेवा धर्म के लिए लेखिका के साथ जेल जाने के लिए वायसराय ( लाट) से भी लड़ने के लिए तैयार थी।
भक्तिन के मन में दया का भाव भी भरा हुआ था। जब कोई विद्यार्थी जेल जाता तो उसे बहुत दुख होता था। वह छात्रावास की लड़कियों के लिए चाय-नाश्ता भी बना देती थी। उसके मन में बच्चों के प्रति वात्सल्य का भाव भी भरा हुआ था।
भक्तिन दृढ़ व्यक्तित्व की स्त्री थी। वह दूसरों को अपने अनुरूप ढाल लेती थी। वह कुतर्क करने में माहिर थी। पढ़ने में उसका मन नहीं लगता था। वह छुआछूत मानने वाली स्त्री थी। रसोईघर में किसी का भी प्रवेश उसे पसंद नहीं था।
भक्तिन घर में बिखरे हुए पैसों को उठाकर बिना लेखिका को बताए भंडार-घर में मटकी में रख देती थी। यह चोरी ही है लेकिन भक्तिन यह तर्क देती कि अपने घर का रुपया-पैसा सँभाल कर रख देना चोरी नहीं होता है।
निष्कर्ष में हम कह सकते हैं कि भक्तिन एक सांसारिक महिला थी जिसमें अपने विलक्षण व्यक्तित्व से लेखिका का मन मोह लिया था। अत: वह लेखिका को अभिभावक की तरह लगने लगी|

A streamlined body is a shape that decreases the friction drag between a fluid, such as air and water, and an object that passes through that fluid. Drag is the force which reduces the speed of the motion. A special shape of the bodies which reduces the fluid friction is called as the streamlined shape. Example: Aquatic animals like fish, crocodile and sharks and the vehicles like cars, flights, ships ect. Streamlined shapes help reduce the amount of air drag when an object is moving.

Sound cannot travel through a vacuum. A vacuum is an area without any air, like space. So sound cannot travel through space because there is no matter for the vibrations to work on it.

प्रतिनिधियों के चुनाव के अनेक तरीके हो सकते हैं। लाटरी के टिकट निकाल कर बिना समझे बूझे प्रतिनिधियों का चुनाव कर लेना तो एक ऐसा तरीका है जिसकी लोकतंत्र में कोई गुंजाइश नहीं है। दूसरे तरीके सामान्यत: निर्वाचन की मतदान प्रणाली पर ही आधृत हैं,। यद्यपि ये तरीके भी पूर्णत: निर्दोष ही हों यह आवश्यक नहीं; पदप्राप्ति के इच्छुक प्रत्याशी प्राय: मतदाताओं को घूस देकर अथवा डरा धमकाकर कर जोरजबर्दस्ती से उनका मत प्राप्त कर लेते हैं। विभिन्न प्रकार के अल्पसंख्यक वर्ग उचित प्रतिनिधित्व से वंचित रह जाते हैं। राजनीतिक तथा अन्य प्रकार के दल कभी कभी चुनाव के लिए किसी अयोग्य उम्मीदवार को खड़ा कर देते हैं। ऐसी हालत में उस दल के लोगों को चाहे-अनचाहे उसी को अपना मत देना पड़ता है। इन दोषों को दूर अथवा कम करने और मतदान को स्वतंत्र एवं निष्पक्ष बनाने के लिए समय-समय पर निर्वाचन की विभिन्न प्रणालियों का विकास किया गया है।
