Factors affecting the population distribution are as under: 1. Geographic factor: (a) AVAILABILITY OF WATER- People prefer area where fresh water is available for the daily needs. Water is a necessity of life without it we cannot sustain. (b) LANDFORMS- people prefer to live on flat land or gentle scope because these areas are idle for infrastructural development and facilitate develop all around. So these areas are highly populated . In contrast, mountainous areas are less populated because these areas are hindrance in growth and development of infrastructure and other facilities. (c) CLIMATE - Areas with pleasant climate are mostly preferred because areas of harsh climate like , too hot or too cold are unsuitable for human being. Thus, the Mediterranean area and north west India are mostly preferred. (d) Soil- Areas with loamy alluvial soil are suited for agriculture and allied activities and thus they are highly populated. For e.g. ganga valley in northern India are highly populated. 2. Economics factor: (a) MINERALS- Areas rich in minerals deposits are highly populated because these mineral attract industries. (b)INDUSTRIALISATION- Industrialisation attract many people because industries create job opportunities and this are higher in population. (c) URBANISATION- People prefer to live in urbanized areas because these areas provide varied facilities to make human living ease. 3. Cultural and political factor- People prefer to live in areas where there is situation of peace and development . Because political instability and cultural turmoil affects the human development and affect the quality of life.

He considered greedy and selfish individuals and exploitative nature of modern technology the root causes for constant depletion of resources and strongly criticised the idea of mass production. Mass production, according to him, had to be replaced necessarily by production by the masses (from machine to man).
