The situation of World War I prisoners of war in Germany is an aspect of the conflict little covered by historical research. However, the number of soldiers imprisoned reached a little over seven million for all the belligerents, of whom around 2,400,000 were held by Germany. Starting in 1915, the German authorities put in place a system of camps, nearly three hundred in all, and did not hesitate to resort to denutrition, punishments and psychological mobbing; incarceration was also combined with methodical exploitation of the prisoners. This prefigured the systematic use of prison camps on a grand scale during the 20th century. However, the captivity organised by the German military authorities also contributed to creating exchanges among peoples and led a number of prisoners to reflect on their involvement in the war and relation with their homeland.

Taan is a virtuoso technique used in the vocal performance of a raga in Hindustani classical music
In Hindustani music, meend refers to a glide from one note to another. It is an essential performance practice, and is used often in vocal and instrumental music.
Murki is a short taan or inverted mordent in Hindustani classical music, known as pratyahatam in Carnatic music. It is a fast and delicate ornamentation or alankar, employing two or more notes and is similar to a mordent or ulta murki. A murki is less forceful than a khatka or a zamzama.

Since {tex}\triangle {/tex} NSQ {tex}\cong{/tex} {tex}\triangle {/tex}MTR
{tex}\therefore {/tex} {tex}\angle{/tex} SQN = {tex}\angle{/tex} TRM
{tex}\Rightarrow {/tex} {tex}\angle{/tex} Q= {tex}\angle{/tex} R(in {tex}\triangle {/tex}PQR)
{tex}\angle Q{/tex} = 90o - {tex}\frac{1}{2}\angle P{/tex}
Again 1 = {tex}\angle{/tex} 2 [given in {tex}\triangle {/tex} PST](Isosceles property)
{tex}\therefore {/tex} {tex}\angle{/tex} 1= {tex}\angle{/tex} 2 = {tex}\frac{1}{2}\left( {{{180}^ \circ } - \angle P} \right){/tex}
{tex}= {90^ \circ } - \frac{1}{2}\angle P{/tex}
Thus, in {tex}\triangle {/tex}PTS and {tex}\triangle {/tex}PRQ
{tex}\angle{/tex} 1 = {tex}\angle{/tex} Q [Each = 90° - {tex}\frac{1}{2}\angle P{/tex}]
{tex}\angle{/tex} 2 = {tex}\angle{/tex} R, {tex}\angle{/tex} P= {tex}\angle{/tex} P(Common)
{tex}\triangle {/tex} PTS {tex}\cong{/tex} {tex}\triangle {/tex}PRQ
