The changes effected in respect of evaluation of Disaster Management through project work and assignments along with details of the modalities for the same.
Consequent upon this, the 8 marks allocated to Disaster Management were reallocated to the other components of History, Geography, Political Science and Economics making the Unit totals as 22,22,18,18 marks respectively.

CBSE issues two volumes of Curriculum every year for the next session. This one is applicable for class 9th and 11th for session 2008-2009 and class 10th and class 12 for session 2009-2010.
Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to evaluate Disaster Management in Social Sciences of class X through projects from the academic session 2008-09 and the Board Examination 2009 in Social Science of class X. The Board has further decided that in addition to Project Work, Disaster Management will be evaluated through assignments also. Following is the revised marks distribution over the three components:

Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi has made some changes to the syllabus of class 12 Political Science. These changes will be applicable from session 2008-2009. The Questions will be asked under Very Short Answer Type Questions carrying 1 marks and 2 marks, Short Answer Type Questions carrying 4 marks and long answer type questions carrying 6 marks. There will be total 35 questions. Out of that 5 questions will be Long Answer Type Questions. Students are advised to have a look over these latest changes.
Central Board of Secondary Education has developed supplementary e-learning material on certain topics of Psychology for classes XI and XII and posted on its website http://www.cbse.nic.in The teachers are expected to use this material in addition to the Psychology textbooks published by NCERT. The material developed is effective from the academic session 2008-09 for both the classes and the Board examination of Class XII, 2009. It may also be further noted that Sample Question Papers in Psychology based on the syllabus for examination year 2009 have also been posted on the Board’s website.
CBSE has decided to evaluate Disaster Management in Social Science of class X through Projects and Assignments only from the current academic session 2008-09 and the Board Examination 2009.
Since the theory paper in Social Science will not contain any questions from Unit 5 on Disaster Management., the revised distribution of 80 marks over the four units of Social Science syllabus for Class X will be as follows :-
The class nine syllabus in examination specifications English communicative given in the secondary school curriculum volume -1 ( 2010-main subjects) has some discrepancy in the marks at Page number 38. Total Marks allotted to section D literature are 30 marks. Question number 12 and 13 carries four plus four total eight marks the curriculum document to 2010. It should be corrected to three plus three total six marks. Question number 14 carries five marks. It should be corrected to four marks. Question number 15 has no marks but it should be corrected to four marks. All other questions given there are correct.
The Board has renamed the newly introduced vocational course General Health Care. It will now be called Healthcare Sciences in place of General Health Care.
The Board will be conducting the training programme for teachers to make them understand the fundamentals of the contents of three vocational subjects in collaboration with the Academy of Hospital Administration. The date venue and course fee will be intimated to selected schools shortly.

The Class IX syllabus in Examination Specifications (English Communicative) given in the Secondary School Curriculum – Volume I – 2010 (Main Subjects) has a discrepancy in the marks on page 38. These correction must be read with the latest syllabus issued by central board of secondary education, new delhi. Reference is made to circular no.15/08 dated 11.04.2008 intimating the Board’s decision to evaluate Disaster Management in Social Sciences of class X through projects from the academic session 2008-09 and the Board Examination 2009 in Social Science of class X.

1. Tests – Formative and summative 10 marks
2. Assignments – class and Home 4 marks
Certain changes in the syllabus for German language in classes IX to XII have been made with a view to remain updated with the recent trends in the political and geographical scenario of the country. These changes are effective from 2008-2009 for classes IX and XI and from 2009-10 for classes X and XII. You may refer to the Secondary and Senior School Curriculum Document Volume II- 2010 in which these changes are incorporated.
In continuation of the circular No. 33/07 dated 24-07-2007 this is to bring to your kind notice that from the academic session 2008-09 and the Board examination 2009 in Social Science of Class X, unit 5 on Disaster Management will be evaluated only through projects.
No questions will be asked from this unit in the theory paper of Social Science. Hence, the students will be required to do project work compulsorily in Disaster management only. The revised distribution of marks over other units of Social Science syllabus and new topics/themes of project work, class X will be communicated to the schools shortly.
Consequent upon revision of syllabus as per National Curriculum Framework 2005 the new textbooks in Sociology have been introduced in class XI in the year 2006-07 and in class XII in the year 2007-08.

Projects in Sociology are not only a tool facilitating construction of knowledge by the students and fostering creativity in them, but also a major contributor in infusing the right attitude for social issues and concerns in an individual and capacity building for problem solving.

The FMM consists of three compulsory Professional subjects each in classes XI & XII in addition to two academic electives one of which must be a language. Though not compulsory, the students offering this package may be advised to offer Functional English for language-1. For the second elective there are 3 optional academic subjects. The students may further opt for an additional sixth subject which can either be a language or an academic or a professional subject at the elective level, in order to ensure vertical mobility for pursuing higher studies, if necessary.
Your attention is drawn to the Board’s Circular No. 17 dated 30th April,2008 regarding the introduction of the new Elective Subject – Heritage Crafts (Code No. 070) in Class XI from the session 2008-09 and class XII in 2009-10.
