Under the phenomena of power-sharing, powers are shared among different social groups, the religious and linguistic groups or among other weaker section and women. Power can be shared between social and linguistic groups in the following ways:
- There are countries where socially and economically weak sections and women are given legal and constitutional protection in terms of representation in the local bodies. This is done to enable them to be a part of decision making.
- In India, there is a provision in the Constitution to have reserved constituencies for the members of the socially and economically backward classes. At the same time, one-third of the seats are reserved for the women in the legislatures. This ensures a fair share of power.
- Minorities are well accommodated through the reserved constituencies in assemblies and the parliament of our country.
- In Belgium, the provision of community government for the linguistic groups was introduced to avoid a civil strike in the country.

On 4 June, a large crowd of weavers marched in pairs to the mansion of one of the contractors demanding an increase in their wages. They destroyed his mansion and broke into the storehouse where all the cloth was stored. The contractor called the army, and in the tussle, eleven weavers were shot.

Soil is the uppermost layer of the land surface, usually composed of minerals, organic matter, living organisms, air and water.
-
Parent material: This refers to the mineral material or organic material from which the soil is formed. Soils will carry the characteristics of its parent material such as color, texture, structure, mineral composition and so on. For example, if soils are formed from an area with large rocks (parent rocks) of red sandstone, the soils will also be red in color and have the same feel as its parent material.
-
Time: Soils can take many years to form. Younger soils have some characteristics from their parent material, but as they age, the addition of organic matter, exposure to moisture and other environmental factors may change its features. With time, they settle and are buried deeper below the surface, taking time to transform. Eventually, they may change from one soil type to another.
-
Climate: This is probably the most important factor that can shape the formation of soils. Two important climatic components, temperature and precipitation are key. They determine how quickly weathering will be, and what kind of organic materials may be available on and inside of the soils.
