CONSUMPTION AND CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES
RESOURCES are classified as anything which is abundantly available, economically feasible and culturally acceptable for the usage of man. They form an essential part of our daily lives such as petrol, LPG cylinders, etc. The scale of resource consumption has been increasing periodically and has reached an all-time high. We see that the need to conserve resources is more urgent than ever.
Reasons for the conservation of resources:
Conservation is an essential part of the development which involves clever use of resources. We need to conserve resources because-
a. To maintain the ecological balance in the world.
b. For sustainable development.
c. For different types of biodiversity.
Methods adopted for the conservation of resources in our locality-
a. Rainwater harvesting systems have been adopted.
b. Vermicomposting has been introduced in order to improve the soil resource.
c. People working in the same area have adopted the system of the carpool.
d. Segregation of waste takes place regularly.
e. Non- biodegradable items are collectively sent to recycling centres.
