- The formation of coal takes millions of years, which is why it is an exhaustible and non-renewable natural resource.
- It was formed around 300 million years ago when the earth was covered with swampy forests.
- When plants in these forests- mainly trees, mosses, ferns, and reeds died, they fell into the swamps.
- Thus there was a thick layer of dead vegetation in the swamp formed.
- As years passed, more and more plants died and many such layers were formed, one above each other.
- The topmost layers compressed the layers below. Heat and pressure caused some physical and chemical changes and eventually, some carbon-rich deposits were formed.

Gutenberg was the son of a merchant. Since his childhood he had seen wine and olive presses. He also learnt the art of polishing stones, and became a master goldsmith and also became an expert in creating lead moulds. Such moulds were used for making trinkets.
Gutenberg used his knowledge to bring innovation to the print technology. He used the olive press as the model for the printing press and used the moulds for casting the metal types for the letters. Gutenberg perfected the system by 1448. The first book printed by him was the Bible.
Initially, the printed books resembled the written manuscripts in appearance and layout. In the hundred years between 1450 and 1550, printing presses were set up in most parts of Europe. The growth of the print industry was so good that about 20 million books appeared in the European markets in the second half of the fifteenth century. In the sixteenth century, this number went up to about 200 million copies.

On heating, ferrous sulphate crystals lose water and anhydrous ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) is formed.
Due to this, it's colour changes from light green to white.

At a light intensity of about 1/30 of full sunlight, potassium and chloride ions move into the guard cells from surrounding tissue. Water follows by osmosis and, as the internal pressure rises, the guard cells bulge apart from each other, causing the stomata to open.
This allows the gas exchange required for photosynthesis to take place.
In darkness, leaving the stomata open might risk damage to the leaf by dehydration.

Money acts easier to exchange for goods and services:
- A person holding money can easily exchange it for any commodity or service that he or she might want.
- Everyone prefers to receive payments in money and exchange the money for things they want.
For example: A shoemaker wants to sell shoes in the market and buy wheat. The shoemaker will first exchange shoes for money and then exchange the money for wheat. If the shoemaker had to directly exchange shoes for wheat without the use of money. He would have to look for a wheat growing farmer who not only wants to sell wheat but also wants to buy the shoe in exchange. Both the parties have to agree to sell and buy each others commodities. This process is very difficult, time consuming and unhealthy.
