Baking powder is mixed with the flour. When water is added to this flour to make dough, baking powder undergoes a chemical reaction during which carbon dioxide gas is produced. This carbon dioxide gas gets trapped into the dough and bubbles out which causes the cake to rise making it soft and spongy.

  • A scale developed to measure the concentration of hydrogen ion in a solution is known as pH scale where p in pH implies ‘potenz’ in German.
  • pH scale ranges from 0 (highly acidic) – 14 (highly alkaline).
  • The pH of a neutral solution is 7.
  • Acidic solution is represented by a value less than 7 on the pH scale.
  • Whereas basic solution is represented by a value greater than 7 on the pH scale.
  • An increase in OHions concentration in the solution results in increase in the strength of alkali hence the value of pH increases.
  • Acids giving rise to more H+ ions are strong acids whereas those giving rise to less H+ ions are termed as weak acids.
  • Similarly bases giving rise to more OH- ions are strong bases whereas those giving rise to less OH- ions are termed as weak bases.
  • Salts of a strong acid and a strong base are neutral with pH value of 7.
  • Salts of strong acid and weak base are acidic with pH value less than 7.
  • Salts of a strong base and weak acid are basic in nature, with pH value more than 7.

Let the digit at unit's place be x.
GIVEN : digit at Ten’s place = 3x
Number formed :
10 × 3x + x = 30x + x = 31x
Number formed after reversing the digits:
10 × x + 3(x )= 10x +3x = 13x
ATQ,
31x -54 = 13x [Given]
31x -13x = 54
18x = 54
x = 54/18
x= 3
Number = 31x = 31 × 3 = 93
Hence, the number is 93.

Voluntary muscles

Involuntary muscles

They are also called striated muscles since they show stripes or striations

They are also called non-striated muscles since they lack striations.

Their cells are long and cylindrical

Their cells are small and spindle shaped.

They have multinucleate cells

They have uninucleate cells

They are under our will or control.

They are not under our will or control.

 They get tired and need rest at intervals.

They do not get tired and can work continuously

Also, these all metals have a thin layer of their oxide . so they cannot react with water.

Abhinav Rana 5 years, 10 months ago

Because they have not high effinity to react with water.also water is neutral compound and movement of the particle of water is medium to compare steam.

Magnesium reacts slowly in water but reacts vigorously with steam. The reason why Magnesium doesn't really react with cold water is that it becomes coated with Magnesium hydroxide which is insoluble, so it prevents water coming into contact with Magnesium.

Abhinav Rana 5 years, 10 months ago

No . yes it can react with cold water also but it is very slow process to get Mg(OH)2

Plants do respire in the day time,but the energy need ofof plants is very less so they do not need much 02. But in the process of photosynthesis a huge amount of 02 is realeased n some part of it is used by plants for respiration while the rest of 02 is released into the environment. Hence we say that plants release 02 during day time?

Diksha? 5 years, 10 months ago

Plants take oxysen at nyt bcz they do not perform photosynthesis at night. In the absence of photosythesis they do not produce oxygen so they take 02 from the environment?

Acids in water solution dissociates H+ ions. Let us consider the reaction between water and hydrochloric acid (HCl).  HCl in presence of water produces H+ ion. This ion cannot exist alone and hence combines with water molecules and forms H3O+. The reaction is as follows:

HCl + H2O → H3O+ + Cl-

Base when dissolved in water produces OH- ion. Let us consider the reaction between water and sodium hydroxide NaOH. NaOH in presence of water produces OH- ion.

NaOH + H2O → Na+ + OH- + H2O
