Aim : To show the reaction of acids with metals.
Required Materials : 1. Test tube 2. Delivery tube 3. Glass trough 4. candle 5. Soap water 6. Dil. HCl 7. Zinc granules.

Procedure :

  1. Set the apparatus as shown in figure.
  2. Take about 10 ml of dilute HCl in a test tube and add a few zinc granules to it.
  3. We will observe the formation of gas bubbles on the surface of zinc granules.
  4. Pass the gas being evolved through the soap water.
  5. Gas filled bubbles are formed in the soap solution which rise into the air.
  6. Bring a burning candle near the gas filled bubbles.
  7. The gas present in a soap bubble burns with a ‘pop’ sound.
    Result:
  8. Only ‘hydrogen’ gas burns making a ‘pop’ sound.
  9. So we will notice that gas evolved is { H }_{ 2 }.

    Additional Experiment:
  10. Repeat the above experiment with H_{2}SO_{4} and HN{{O}_{3}}.
  11. We observe the same observation of the HCl experiment.

Conclusion : From the above activities we can conclude that when acid reacts with metal, H2 gas is evolved.

Hydrogen gas is liberated when an acid reacts with a metal. For example, when zinc metal reacts with dil. hydrogen is evolved and salt zinc chloride is formed as: It can be tested by bringing a burning candle near the gas. The candle continues burning with a pop sound

In order for a sentence to be grammatically correct, the subject and verb must both be singular or plural. In other words, the subject and verb must agree with one another in their tense. If the subject is in plural form, the verb should also be in plur al form (and vice versa).

The trigonometric ratios are special measurements of a right triangle (a triangle with one angle measuring 90° ). ... There are three basic trigonometric ratios: sine , cosine , and tangent . Given a right triangle, you can find the sine (or cosine, or tangent) of either of the non- 90° angles.

The Belgium model of sharing power in their democratic set-up is very complicated. It is so because many provisions have been made by their constitution. These provisions are not easy even for the people in Belgium to understand. These provisions have helped avoiding civil strife between the two major communities and a possible division upon linguistic lines.

Let radius = r

Perimeter = radius + radius + length of arc

Perimeter of quadrant = r + r + angle/360 * 2 * pi * r = 25

2r + [1/4 * 2 * 22/7 * r] = 25

25/7 * r = 25

r = 7

Area =  angle/ 360 * pi * r * r

1/4 * 22/7 * 7 * 7 = 38.5 sq.cm

Gandhiji successfully organise satyagrah movements in various places just after arriving in India. The movement started in 1916 from Champaran Bihar, where Gandhiji inspire the peasants to struggle against the oppressive plantation system.

The second satyagraha movement took place in the very next year of Champaran movement. In 1917, at khedo district of Gujarat the second satyagraha completed successfully. Here the peasants were not able to pay the revenue, because of crop failure and a plague epidemic and demanding that revenue collection be relaxed.

The third movement was held in 1918. Gandhiji went to Ahmedabad to organise a satyagraha movement amongst cotton mill workers.

Sum of zeroes = -5 Product of zeroes = 6 So, we know that when we have to find the quadratic equation then we use this formulas : x2-(sum of zeroes) x+product Now, x2-(-5)x+6. Required quadratic equation is --> x2+5x+6.

Simranpreet Kaur 5 years, 5 months ago

Let the quad. polynomial be ax^2+bx+c and whose zeroes are alpha and beeta. According to question- sum of zeroes=-b/a=-5/1 products of zeroes =c/a=6/1 from here, a=1, b=5 and c=6 thus, required quadratic equation is x^2+5x+6

The service sector includes activities which help in the development of the primary and secondary sectors. These activities do not produce a good on its own but serve as an aid for the production process. Transport, banking, communication, storage, trade are a few examples of service sector activities. It also includes essential services which may not directly help in the production of goods. For example, teachers, doctors, lawyers, etc.

Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa in 1915. In South Africa, he had successfully fought the racist regime with a notel method known as Satyagraha.
The three reasons stating the fact are
(i) The idea of Satyagraha emphasised the power of truth which would ultimately triumph; Gandhiji believed that the dharma of non-violence could unite all Indians.
In India, Gandhiji launched Satyagraha movements in various areas like Champaran, Kheda and Ahmedabad.
(ii) In 1919, the Rowlatt Act was passed by the Imperial Legislative Assembly which gave enormous power to the British Government.
The government could detain any political prisoner without any trial for two years. The aim of this Act was to repress political activities of the nationalists. People were agitating against the law.
(iii) On 13th April, 1919, the infamous incident took place where hundreds of innocent people were killed. As the news of Jallianwalla Bagh spread, widespread movement started.
Gandhiji now felt the need to launch a more broad based movement in India.

The economists and politicians learnt two key lessons from the inter-war economic experiences.
(i) First, an industrial society based on mass production cannot be sustained without mass consumption.
(ii) There was a need for high and stable income which depends on full employment of the people.
(iii) Since market alone could not guarantee full employment; government should intervene and take steps to minimise fluctuation of market forces.
(iv) The second lesson is that the global economy is inter-related.
(v) The goal of full employment could only be achieved if governments had power to control flow of goods, capital and labour.

The Non-Cooperation Movement spread to the countryside. The following points state its spread
(i) In Awadh, peasants under the leadership of Baba Ram Chandra revolted against the talukdars and the landlords who demanded very high rent and different taxes from them. The peasant demanded reduction of revenue, abolition of begar and social boycott of oppressive landlords. In many places, local leaders told peasants that Gandhiji had declared that no taxes were to be paid and land was to be redistributed among the poor.
(ii) In the Gudem hills of Andhra Pradesh, a Militant Guerrilla Movement spread. The colonial government had closed large forest areas which affected the livelihood of the forest people. When the government forced them to contribute begar or free labour, they revolted. Alluri Sitaram Raju inspired by Gandhiji’s ideals came to lead them and the Gudem rebels attacked police stations and carried on guerrilla warfare for achieving Swaraj.
