In the mid-1800s, nationalist feelings were strong and engraved in the hearts of the middle-class Germans. They all came united in 1848 to create a nation-state out of the numerous German States. But the monarchy and the military members got together to repress them and they gained support from the landowners of Prussia (the Junkers) as well. Prussia then became the leader of the German unification movement. Chief Minister Otto von Bismarck at that time was the architect of the process with support from the Prussian army and Prussian bureaucracy.

Process of unification of German

  • Nationalist sentiments were often organised by conservatives for promoting state power and achieving political domination over Europe. This can be noted in the process by which Germany and Italy came to be unified as nation-states
  • Middle-class Germans tried to unite the different regions of German Confederation, but their plans were not took place due to actions of large landowners called Junkers of Prussia.
  • The unification process was concluded after Prussia won wars with Austria, Denmark, and France over seven years time.
  • In January 1871, the Prussian king, William I, was indicated the German Emperor in a ceremony held at Versailles. Three wars over the span of seven years with Austria, Denmark and France ended in a Prussian victory. In Jan 1871, Prussian King William I was proclaimed German emperor.
  • More importance was given to modernising the currency, banking, legal and judicial systems in Germany.

Arid soils range from red to brown in colour.

  • They are sandy in texture and saline in nature. In some areas, the salt content is very high and common salt is obtained by evaporating the water.
  • Due to dry climate, high temperature, evaporation is faster and the soil lacks humus and moisture.
  • The lower layers of the soil are occupied by Kankar because of the increasing calcium content downwards.
  • After proper irrigation, these soils become cultivable as has been in the case of western Rajasthan.<button aria-label="like this post" title="like this post">

India a federal country because of the following reasons:

  • There are levels of governments—Central Government, State Government and Local Government.
  • Each level of government administers over the same region, but they have their own jurisdiction in matters of administration, taxation and legislation.
  • The Government at each level derives its power from the Constitution of the country. Thus, the Central Government cannot easily dilute the powers of the State or Local Governments.
  • The basic principles of the Constitution and the rights given to the people cannot be changed by only one tier of the Government. It requires the consent of governments at both levels.
  • Both levels of the Government can collect taxes from the people according to the guidelines of the Constitution of the country.
  • The Indian Constitution contains three lists which contain subjects in which the Union and the State Governments may form laws. Only central government can make laws in the Union List and state government in the state list. Subjects related to the interests of both Central and State Governments are included in the concurrent list.

Hydrogen gas

Hydrogen gas is liberated when an active metal reacts with hydrochloric acid. For testing the presence of hydrogen gas, bring a burning candle near the mouth of the test tube in which the reaction is taking place. If the gas burns with a popping sound, then it can be concluded that it is hydrogen.

2H2(g) + O2(g) → 2H2O(g)

The greatest fear for every creature in this world is of death and danger. For man failure is an added fear.

Overcoming this fear is the first step to success.

In the story 'His first flight' by Liam O' Flaherty, the author expresses the fear of a baby sea gull in taking his first flight.

A sea gull family had nestled on a cliff above the sea. When the baby sea gulls grew of age to fly the parent sea gulls escorted them to take their first flight.

All except one sea gull successfully completed their first flight and consequently the flew away to a newer habitat.

But one particular sea gull was too afraid to take his first flight. He refused to fly off the ledge in fear of falling. His mother could not get him to muster up courage to take the flight.

Finally ridden by hunger and desperation he takes the plunge. Immediately he overcomes his fear and soars gleefully over the sea.

Thus his first flight establishes the fact that 'Overcoming fear is the first step to success.'

The political conditions of Europe as follows : (i) The first half of the nineteenth century saw an enormous increase in population all over Europe.
(ii) In most countries, there were more job seekers than employment. Population from rural areas migrated to the cities to live in overcrowded slums.
(iii) Small producers in towns were often faced with stiff competition from imports of cheap machine made goods from England, where industrialisation was more advanced than on the continent.
(iv) In these regions of Europe where the aristocracy still enjoyed power, peasants struggled under the burden of feudal dues and obligations.
(v) The rise of food prices or a year of bad harvest led to widespread pauperism in town and country.

Herbivorous mainly take grass, which composed of cellulose which is a complex sugar so it needs a longer path for digestion that's why herbivores have longer small intestine than Carnivores.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 5 months ago

Cellulose forms the largest part of the herbivore’s food. Digestion of cellulose takes a longer time, because the enzymes are produced by the ruminant bacteria that live in the gut of the herbivore. Longer small intestine ensures that the food stays for a longer duration and proper digestion is possible. In the case of carnivores, cellulose is not present in the diet, thus the length of small intestine is less.
