Not only humans but animals to cherish freedom. Freedom can't be bargained. In this case, a tiger may be well-fed and protected. However, the curtailment of his freedom keeps him in quiet rage'. He resents being behind the bars. He is a different animal when he is in his natural habitat, the jungle. He roams around the water hole and ambushes his favourite plump deer.

At night, the caged tiger hears the last voices of the patrolling cars. Being locked in the cage, he looks towards the sky. He goes on staring the brilliant stars that are shining freely in the sky like his brilliant eyes.

The tiger feels slave in the concrete cell. It feels like a prisoner. It misses its freedom in the forest where it should be lurking in the shadows; stalking its prey in the long grass near water hole, where deer come to drink water and where it lurks to pounce on them.
It can only walk a few steps in the cage. Many visitors come to see it but it does not pay any heed to them.
At night after everyone retires, it can only look at the stars from its cage.

Greece had been part of the Ottoman Empire since the fifteenth century.

• The growth of revolutionary nationalism in Europe sparked off a struggle for independence amongst the Greeks which began in 1821.

• Nationalists in Greece got support from other Greeks living in exile and also from many West Europeans who had sympathies for ancient Greek culture.

• Poets and artists lauded Greece as the cradle of European civilisation and mobilised public opinion to support its struggle against a Muslim empire.

• The English poet Lord Byron organised funds and later went to fight in the war, where he died of fever in 1824.

• Finally, the Treaty of Constantinople of 1832 recognised Greece as an independent nation.

Had he not been bound in his cage, the tiger would have been roaming around freely. He should have been growling around the houses of the human settlement at the outskirts of the jungle. There, he would open out his sharp long white teeth and paws just to terrorise the villagers.

The tiger is bound in his cage. Stripes on his skin are clearly visible. His heels look like pads an of velvet. On his pads of velvet, he walks quietly within his cage. He doesn’t seem to be happy to be in his unnatural abode. So, without showing his anger, he walks around quietly in his cage.

magnification(m) = -3 (as image is real)
object distance(u)  = -10cm
image distance (v)=?

we know that   m= -v/u

-3 =  -v /-10

-3 = v/10

v =-3 * 10

v = - 30 cm

thus the image is 30 cm away from the concave mirror

A K47 5 years, 2 months ago

By the formula of magnification i.e. m=-v/u we can find image distance. Putting in values 3=-v/-10 as object distance is always negative in concave mirror. We get image distance 30cm. So the image is virtual.

When magnesium burns, it reacts with the oxygen found in air to form a powdery ash called magnesium oxide. Chemical equation: Magnesium plus Oxygen gives Magnesium oxide. When magnesium reacts with oxygen, it produces light bright enough to blind you temporarily. Magnesium burns so bright because the reaction releases a lot of heat. As a result of this exothermic reaction, magnesium gives two electrons to oxygen, forming powdery magnesium oxide (MgO).

Transport of water and minerals

Plants need water to make food through the process of photosynthesis and minerals for making proteins. Thus, a plant absorbs water and minerals from soil through roots and transport it other parts like stem, leaves, flowers etc. It is through two kinds of elements of xylem tissue called, xylem vessels and tracheid that water and minerals move from roots of a plant to its leaves.

Xylem vessels

Xylem vessel is a long tube made up of dead cells joined end to end. It is a non-living tube which runs from roots of the plants and runs through the stem and reaches every leaf. The end walls of the cells are broken so that an open tube is formed.

Xylem vessels do not have cytoplasm or nuclei and the walls of the vessels are made of cellulose or lignin. Other than transporting water and minerals, xylem vessel also provides strength to the stem and keeps it upright. This is because lignin is very hard and strong. Wood is made of lignified xylem vessels. Xylem vessels have pits in their cell walls where lignin is not deposited. Either xylem vessel or both xylem vessel and tracheid transport water in flowering plants.

Kidneys play a very important role in human osmoregulation. They remove wastes and extra water from the blood to form urine. The kidneys regulate the amount of water in urine waste. Urine flows from the kidneys to the bladder through the ureters.

Two tangents TP and TQ are drawn to a circle with center O from an external point T. Prove that angle PTQ = 2 OPQ.

We know that, the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal.

∴ TP = TQ

In ΔTPQ,

TP = TQ

⇒ ∠TQP = ∠TPQ ...(1) (In a triangle, equal sides have equal angles opposite to them)

∠TQP + ∠TPQ + ∠PTQ = 180º (Angle sum property)

∴ 2 ∠TPQ + ∠PTQ = 180º (Using(1))

⇒ ∠PTQ = 180º – 2 ∠TPQ ...(1)

We know that, a tangent to a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact.

OP ⊥ PT,

∴ ∠OPT = 90º

⇒ ∠OPQ + ∠TPQ = 90º

⇒ ∠OPQ = 90º – ∠TPQ

⇒ 2∠OPQ = 2(90º – ∠TPQ) = 180º – 2 ∠TPQ ...(2)

From (1) and (2), we get

∠PTQ = 2∠OPQ

1. Before the 18th century there was no British Nation. People of different identities and ethnic groups - English, Welsh, Scot and irish - lived in British isles. Each of these had their own cultural and political traditions.
2. Unlike the rest of Europe, nationalism in Britain was not a result of sudden upheaval or revolution. It was a result of long drawn process forged through the propagation of dominant English culture. Symbols like the English language, the British flag and the national anthem was actively promoted.
3. In 1688, through a bloodless revolution, the English Parliament seized power from the monarchy. The Parliament became the chief instrument to set up a nation state with England at its centre. By the act of union between England and Scott in 1707, United Kingdom of Great Britain was formed.
4. Ireland also suffered a similar fate. It was deeply divided between catholics and protestants. The English supported the protestant irish over the largely Catholic population. They brutally suppressed Catholic Revolt and forcibly incorporated Ireland within United Kingdom in 1801.
5. Scotland and Ireland survived only as subordinate partners in the British Nation. It was through parliamentary action and not by the means of revolution over that United Kingdom was forced into a strong National state.

Short answer:

The young seagull was so hungry that he could not resist the temptation of the food. His hunger for food compelled the young seagull to finally fly.

Long answer:

The young seagull had been hungry since last day. He made gestures to be noticed by his parents but nobody cared except his mother. He saw his mother tearing a piece of fish with her beak. He got maddened by the sight of food. Actually, his mother was enticing him. She thought that her son would make an attempt to fly to snatch the food from her mouth. But, contrary to this, the young seagull started begging his mother to bring him some food. His mother took the advantage of the situation. She took a fish and started flying across the sea towards her son. She could see her son screaming with joy. As soon as she reached near him, she stopped and didn't pass on the food to him. Her son stood surprised for a moment but he made the dive unconsciously to have the piece of fish.
The young seagull was so hungry that he could not resist the temptation of the food. His hunger for food compelled the young seagull to finally fly.
