AB is a chord of length 9.6 cm of a circle with centre O and radius 6 cm.

The tangents at A and B intersect at P.
CONSTRUCTION : Join OP and OA. Let OP and AB intersect at M.
Let PA = x cm and PM = y cm.
Now, PA=PBPA=PB
and OP is the bisector of ∠APB∠APB [∵∵ two tangents to a circle from an external point are equally inclined to the line segment joining the centre to that point.
Also, OP⊥ABOP⊥AB and OP bisects AB at M [∵∵ OP is the right bisector of AB]
∴∴ AM = MB = 9.629.62cm
=4.8cm.=4.8cm.
In right △AMO△AMO, we have
OA=6cmOA=6cm
and AM=4.8cm.AM=4.8cm.
∴∴ OM = OA2−AM2−−−−−−−−−−√OA2−AM2
=62−4.82−−−−−−−√=62−4.82
=12.96−−−−√=12.96
=3.6cm=3.6cm.
In right △PAO△PAO, we have
AP2 = PM2 + AM2
⇒x2=y2+(4.8)2⇒x2=y2+(4.8)2
⇒x2=y2+23.04⇒x2=y2+23.04...(i)
In right △PAO△PAO, we have
OP2 = PA2 + OA2 [Note ∠PAO=90∘∠PAO=90∘, since AO is the radius at the point of contact]
⇒(y+3.6)2⇒(y+3.6)2
=x2+62=x2+62
⇒y2+7.2y+12.96⇒y2+7.2y+12.96
=x2+36=x2+36
⇒7.2y=46.08⇒7.2y=46.08 [using (i)]
⇒y=6.4cm⇒y=6.4cm
and
x2 = (6.4)2 + 23.04
= 40.96 + 23.04 = 64
⇒x=64−−√=8⇒x=64=8
∴∴ PA=8cm.

In real sense, economic growth is related to increase in per capita national output or net national product of a country that remain constant or sustained for many years. Economic growth can be achieved when the rate of increase in total output is greater than the rate of increase in population of a country. Economic development means the rate of production is greater than the rate of increase in population and the rate of growth of GDP is high enough to fulfil the basic needs of the population. Two bases of measuring development of a country are: (i) Average or per capita income.

Economic growth is the increase in the inflation-adjusted market value of the goods and services produced by an economy over time. It is conventionally measured as the percent rate of increase in real gross domestic product, or real GDP.
Growth is usually calculated in real terms - i.e., inflation-adjusted terms – to eliminate the distorting effect of inflation on the price of goods produced. Measurement of economic growth uses national income accounting. Since economic growth is measured as the annual percent change of gross domestic product (GDP), it has all the advantages and drawbacks of that measure. The economic growth rates of nations are commonly compared using the ratio of the GDP to population or per-capita income.
The "rate of economic growth" refers to the geometric annual rate of growth in GDP between the first and the last year over a period of time. This growth rate is the trend in the average level of GDP over the period, which ignores the fluctuations in the GDP around this trend.

Dictatorship is defined as an autocratic or authoritarian form of government in which a government is ruled by either an individual or an authoritarian party. In dictatorship, a particular individual has great power in the government and exercises his own will while taking the decisions.
Here, masses are ignored while taking the decisions. The dictator or a few powerful individuals have all the economic, social, intellectual and moral powers to take decisions. Such regimes justify, that it is better for the power to be concentrated in few hands, so that some goals can be achieved at a quicker speed.

A rainbow is the diffraction of sunlight through water droplets in the air. To see a rainbow, you need to be looking at light rain with the sun behind you. The rainbow is curved as it reflects the round shape of the sun. It is a semicircle because only half of your field of vision is the air (the other half is the Earth). If you are in an aeroplane with the sun directly overhead and you look down into a raincloud, you will see the rainbow is a full circle, again reflecting the fact the sun is round.

Basic oxide:
Metals react with oxygen to give basic compounds of oxygen. These compounds are usually ionic in nature. Group 1, 2 and lanthanides form basic compounds of oxygen when they react with dioxygen. During the formation of these compounds, a large amount of energy is released. These compounds readily react with water except a few exceptions.
Examples: M2O3, MO2, ThO2
Na2O + H2O → 2NaOH
Acidic oxide:
Non-metals react with oxygen to form acidic compounds of oxides which are held together by covalent bonds. These compounds can also be called as acid anhydrides. Acid anhydrides usually have a low melting and boiling point except for compounds like B2O3 and SiO2 which have high melting points and form giant molecules.
Examples: NO, CO2
SO3 + H2O → H2SO4
B2O3 + H2O → 2H3BO3

Ammonia is a base but doesn’t contain any hydroxyl group because it forms OH- ions when it is added to water.
In water, ammonia forms ammonium hydroxide. While adding water, ammonia ionises for forming the ions of ammonium and hydroxide ions.
In water, ammonia accepts the protons which are provided by dissociation of water. Water in this case which acts as an ‘acid’ and since ammonia accepts these protons, which it acts as a ‘base’.

The variations ensure that the survival of the species as they allow the members of population to adapt to the changing environment and conditions. The species are more suitable to the changed environment . Thus continuity of the species is maintained.
For example, Bacteria variants which can withstand tolerate heat will survive better in a heat wave than variant which cannot heat wave. It proves that creation of variations in a species promote survival.

Advantages of road ways over railways are:
- Construction cost of roads is much lower than railway lines.
- Roads can be constructed easily in hilly terrains and undulating topography.
- Roadways act as a feeder to other modes of transport, as they provide a link between railway stations, air and sea ports.
- Road transport is economical in transportation of few persons and relatively smaller amount of goods over short distances.

The majority always needs to work for minority. Democracy does not believe in any kind of discrimination among citizens on grounds of caste, religion, colour, ***, race, etc. It accommodates alLsocial diversities. Democracies accommodate social diversities when it is well understood that democracy is not just the rule of the majority, and that the rule of the majority is not just the rule of a single religious or social community.
