HTML is a markup language, which is used to define the layout and attributes of a World Wide Web (WWW) document as well as to create links between Web pages.
HTML is the underlying foundation of Website design. It is a subset of SGML (Standard Generalised Markup Language) and a high-level markup language.
HTML is a short form of HyperText Markup Language, which means
(i) HyperText is simply a piece of text that has some extra features like formatting, images, multimedia and links to another document.
(ii) Markup Language is a way of writing layout information within documents. HTML is a page layout and hyperlink specification language. It allows images and other objects to be embedded that can be used to create interactive forms. HTML documents are described through HTML tags or elements.

Tangents drawn from am external point to a circle
are equal in length
so from the diagram we get
AH= AE; DH = DG; CG=CF
4−x=x y=2y−3
2x=4 y=3
x=2
As x=2 DH = 5 − AH = 5−(4−x) =3
as DH=DG DG=3
So Length of CD=CG+GD
=3+3=6

Lencho was a farmer. He was not so poor and not so rich farmer. He was having a great faith in God. This we came to know from his letter addressed to God. He did so for the compensation of his crops. Actually the hail stones destroyed his crops and he thought that now his family would starve throughout the whole year. But he was very religious person, so he decided to ask the God for his help. In his letter to God he asked the God for 100 pesos. But his letter was not reached to God. It were the post office employees who sent the 70 pesos for help. And Lencho called the post office employees as “a bunch of crooks”. While they helped him. Because of this we can say that Lencho was a foolish person too (in the sense of innocence).

Let’s pretend we have an image of a dog on our computer saved as “funny-dog.jpg” and we want to insert it into a webpage; this is the code we would use:
| <code>1</code> | <code><</code><code>img</code> <code>src</code><code>=</code><code>"funny-dog.jpg"</code><code>></code> |
Let’s analyze this code. First, <img> is the code for creating an image element. Next, the letters “src” are used as an attribute and stand for “source”. Basically, we need to provide the web browser with a value to the source of the image. Naturally, the value for the source attribute is “funny-dog.jpg”. This example assumes your image file is located in the same directory as your HTML file. If, for example, you had your image file inside a folder named “images” your code would look like this:
| <code>1</code> | <code><</code><code>img</code> <code>src</code><code>=</code><code>"images/funny-dog.jpg"</code><code>></code> |
Self Closing Elements
As you can see, in both code examples so far there has not been an ending </img> tag, because the image code is a “self closing” element. This is because unlike a paragraph, we won’t have a plethora of content inside our <img> element, but rather a single image. In fact, HTML5 does not require us to ever “close” our elements, but for organizational reasons I recommend including traditional closing tags for most elements.
There is one additional bit of code we must add before we are finished. We must assign an “alt” attribute and value to our image. The “alt” attribute stands for “alternative” and is used to provide a text-based alternative for viewers incase the image will not load, or if they are visually impaired. Here is what our code will look like:
| <code>1</code> | <code><</code><code>img</code> <code>src</code><code>=</code><code>"funny-dog.jpg"</code> <code>alt</code><code>=</code><code>"A funny dog sitting on the grass."</code><code>></code> |

Communalism can take several forms in politics – in everyday beliefs, formation of parties based on communities, campaigning or asking for votes, formation of government, etc.
(i) Communalism in daily beliefs : The most common expression of communalism is in everyday life. These routinely involve religious prejudices, stereotypes of religious communities and the beliefs in the superiority of one religion over the other religions. This is so common that we often fail to notice it, even when we believe in it.
(ii) Formation of political parties on the basis of communities : All the communities of the world have a quest for political dominance of one’s own religious community. For those belonging to the majority community, this takes the form of majoritarian dominance. For those belonging to the minority community, it can take the form of a desire to form a separate political unit.
(iii) Political mobilisation on communal lines : It is another frequent form of communalism. Parties based on a particular community make use of sacred symbols, religious leaders, emotional appeal and create fear in order to bring the followers of one religion together in the political arena. In electoral politics, this often involves a special appeal to the interests or emotions of voters of one religion in preference to others.
(iv) Communal riots: Sometimes, communalism takes the most ugly form of communal violence, riots and massacre. India has suffered some of the worst communal riots at the time of partition. The post independence period has also seen large- scale communal violence.

Communalism implies a strong sense of belonging to a particular religious community to the exclusion of others. The concept of communalism holds that religious distinction is the most fundamental and overriding distinction that separates a particular community from others. Communalism as evident from the rise of politics based on religious identity has been an important factor in the Indian political system.
The relationship between communalism and Indian politics was institutionalized in 1909 by the Minto - Morley Reforms and subsequently through the Montagu – Chermsford Reforms of 1919 which led to separate electorates. Though the system was abolished in 1947 the germs of communalism remained in independent India as well.
The introduction of universal adult franchise in independent India was one of the historic events of the nation. This gave the people of this country an opportunity to elect their representatives, a right which was denied to them for long. However, political parties soon began to look for ‘easy ways’ of mobilizing votes. Besides using caste they also used religion to woo voters. Interestingly, the law of the land does not debar the formation of political parties on the basis of caste or religion. Even the Supreme Court in a judgment delivered on 17th July, 1995, ruled that political parties which identify with a particular caste, community, religion or language can seek votes to promote their cause without harming or creating hatred for other caste, community, religion or language. Unfortunately, many political parties today cross their limits and this has created a number of communal violence in recent years.
Moreover, communal issues are often brought up during the time of elections; this is mostly done to divert attention from real issues of basic development. A section of politicians have been manipulating communal issues for their selfish ends. This section of individuals and groups are more prone to use divisive ideologies like communalism to ensure their political power. Communalization of politics has today become a threat to secular character of the nation.

1. Concentration in Parts Per Million (ppm)
The parts of a component per million parts (106) of the solution.
ppm(A)=Mass of ATotal mass of the solution×106
2. Mass Percentage (w/w):
When the concentration is expressed as the percent of one component in the solution by mass it is called mass percentage (w/w). Suppose we have a solution containing component A as the solute and B as the solvent, then its mass percentage is expressed as:
Mass % of A = Mass of component A in the solutionTotal mass of the solution×100
3. Volume Percentage (V/V):
Sometimes we express the concentration as a percent of one component in the solution by volume, it is then called as volume percentage and is given as:
volume % of A = Volume of component A in the solutionTotal volume of the solution×100
For example, if a solution of NaCl in water is said to be 10 % by volume that means a 100 ml solution will contain 10 ml NaCl.
4. Mass by Volume Percentage (w/V):
This unit is majorly used in the pharmaceutical industry. It is defined as the mass of a solute dissolved per 100mL of the solution.
5. Molarity (M):
One of the most commonly used methods for expressing the concentrations is molarity. It is the number of moles of solute dissolved in one litre of a solution. Suppose a solution of ethanol is marked 0.25 M, this means that in one litre of the given solution 0.25 moles of ethanol is dissolved.
6. Molality (m):
Molality represents the concentration regarding moles of solute and the mass of solvent. It is given by moles of solute dissolved per kg of the solvent. The molality formula is as given-
Molality(m)=Moles of solute / Mass of solvent in kg
7. Normality
It is the number of gram equivalents of solute present in one liter of the solution and it is denoted by N.
N=Weight of solute in gramsEquivalent mass×Volume in liter
The relation between normality and molarity.
- N x Eq.Wt = Molarity x Molar mass
- N = Molarity x Valency
- N = Molarity x Number of H+ or OH– ion

The buffer solution is a solution able to maintain its Hydrogen ion concentration (pH) with only minor changes on the dilution or addition of a small amount of either acid or base. Buffer Solutions are used in fermentation, food preservatives, drug delivery, electroplating, printing, the activity of enzymes, blood oxygen carrying capacity need specific hydrogen ion concentration (pH).
A neutralization reaction can be defined as a chemical reaction in which an acid and base quantitatively react together to form a salt and water as products.
Neutralization Reaction Examples
- Formation of Sodium Chloride (Common Salt):
HCl + NaOH → NaCl + H2O - Titration methods using phenolphthalein.

The word Laterite is derived from the Latin word ‘later’ which means ‘brick’.Laterite is a soil and rock type rich in iron and aluminium and is commonly considered to have formed in hot and wet tropical areas. Nearly all laterites are of rusty-red colouration, because of high iron oxide content. They develop by intensive and long-lasting weathering of the underlying parent rock.
