The poet ( Khushwant Singh ) describes his grandmother as Short ,fat and a little Stooped. He also describes her as being not pretty in the traditional sense but her serenity made her beautiful as she always used to chant silent prayers from beads of rosary.She was always in spotless white.
They were very close to each other but the distance grew once he moved to city to further his academics.

More employment in rural areas can be created by taking following steps:
1. Farmers should diversify agriculture and adopt horticulture, animal rearing, organic farming, pisciculture besides farming.
2. Government should take necessary steps to provide loans to farmers at cheaper rates and from formal sources of credit.
3. Creation of basic infrastructure facilities such as roads, transportation, market and banking will lead to creation of employment opportunities in rural areas.
4. Establishment and promotion of cottage and small scale industries will also increase employment opportunities in rural areas.

- The literal meaning of Kalamkari is a painting done by kalam. This art go enriched as it came down from one generation to another. These paintings are made in Andhra Pradesh.
- It is had painted as well as block printing with vegetable dyes applied on cloth. Vegetables dyes are used for colour in the kalam Kari work.
- A small place Sri-Kalahasti is the best known centre of Kalamkari art. This work is also found at Masaulipatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
- The Kalamkari dyes are obtained by extracting colours from plant roots, leaves, along with salts of iron, tin, copper, alum etc.

: The Emergency adversely affected the functioning of mass media as mentioned below:
(i) After midnight of 25 June 1975, the electricity to all the major newspaper offices was disconnected.
(ii) Freedom of press was suspended and press censorship was introduced.
(iii) Newspapers like the Indian Express and the Statesman protested against censorship by leaving blank spaces where news items had been censored.
(iv) Magazines like the Seminar and the Main Stream chose to close down rather than submit to censorship.
(v) Many journalists were arrested for writing against the Emergency.
(vi) Many underground newsletters and leaflets were published to bypass censorship.

Temporary Settlement: Settlements that are occupied for a short time are temporary settlements. Examples of temporary settlements are; deep forests, hot and cold deserts, mountains. People living in such temporary settlements practice hunting, gathering, shifting cultivation and transhumance.
Permanent Settlement: In these settlements people build homes to live in. Most of the settlements these days are permanent settlements.
