Hailstorm was raining on the house,hillside ,cornfield,garden and on the hillside.whole of the valley was covered with hailstorm and looked as a white blanket.the corn field of the lencho was totally destroyed,the flower had fallen from the plant and no any thing was left on cornfield after the hailstorm.so this incident filled the soul of lencho with sadness.

According to Euclid’s Division Lemma if we have two positive integers a and b, then there exist unique integers q and r which satisfies the condition a = bq + r where 0 ≤ r < b. Let a be the positive odd integer which when divided by 6 gives q as quotient and r as remainder. According to Euclid’s division lemma a = bq + r a = 6q + r………………….(1) where, (0 ≤ r < 6) So r can be either 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Case 1: If r = 1, then equation (1) becomes a = 6q + 1 The Above equation will be always as an odd integer. Case 2: If r = 3, then equation (1) becomes a = 6q + 3 The Above equation will be always as an odd integer. Case 3: If r = 5, then equation (1) becomes a = 6q + 5 The above equation will be always as an odd integer. ∴ Any odd integer is of the form 6q + 1 or 6q + 3 or 6q + 5. Hence proved.

7 THE HACK DRIVER (By Sinclair Lewis)  The narrator completed his graduation in law and joined a big firm as a junior assistant clerk. He was given the dirty and dangerous job of serving summons.  He gets an opportunity to go to a village to serve summons.  A helpful Hack Driver at the station offers to take him in his cart and find Lutkins. The driver takes him to all the places where Lutkins could be found but fails to find him.  He shows him the village and describes the country life.  They don’t find Lutkins but the lawyer is very happy to find such a good companion. They visit Lutkins house where they meet his mother who chases them away. The lawyer ends up paying for the driver for six hours.  He returns to the city where his chief is angry at his failure. The chief sends him back next day with a man who knows Lutkins. The lawyer shows him the helpful hack driver.  His companion tells him that the hack driver is Oliver Lutkins. The lawyer feels embarrassed to serve summons to the cheerful Oliver

This is a story of a lawyer who after completing his graduation started working with a famous firm in the city. He was working as an assistant clerk there. He did not like the job of serving summons because sometimes he had to face harsh situations. One day, he had to give summons to Oliver Lutkins who was a key witness in some case. He lived in a small village New Mullion. He was happy to go to the village but the village looked very dull and lifeless. The narrator saw a hack driver on a platform that was cheerful. He inquired him about Lutkins and came to know he was a shrewd man and had taken loan from many people. The hack driver cunningly extracted from lawyer that he has come here to give court summon to Lutkin. The lawyer decided to rent Bill’s hack and search for Lutkins. Bill manipulated the lawyer and made him visit different places in search of Lutkins. He always goes ahead and inquires about Lutkins. They went to Fritz’s shop to catch Lutkins where he plays poker. They have been told that he has gone to Gustaff barber for shaving. Later at Gustaff’s place also they could not meet him and somebody told them they saw him in the pool room. They could not find him there and told he left the poolroom after buying cigarettes. In Afternoon Bill asked the lawyer to buy food from his wife as it would be less costly than a restaurant. They had their lunch at Wade’s hill which is a beautiful place. By now the lawyer was fully convinced that Bill is a generous and helpful person. He even started comparing city people and villagers. Later they went to Lutkins mother’s house but she was a horrible lady and she was close to attacking them with a hot iron rod. At last, the lawyer has to leave without serving to summon to Lutkins. He was badly scolded by his Chief the next day and was sent again to New Mullion with a colleague who knew Lutkins. On reaching station the lawyer happily acknowledged that Bill was such helpful people to him in searching Lutkins. At this point, he was told by his colleague that the hack driver was none other than Oliver Lutkins. The lawyer felt ashamed of himself. Conclusion of The Hack Driver The story teaches us that we should not trust anyone without knowing them otherwise people will make fool of us.

CHAPTER 9 : MADAM RIDES THE BUS by Vallikannan  The story is about an eight year old girl named Valliammai. She was very curious to know about things.  Her favourite pastime was to stand at the front doorway of her house and see what was happening in the street outside.  She would watch the bus that passed every hour from her village to the nearest town.  She developed a desire to ride the bus. This became her deepest desire.  Valli found out the details of the bus journey by listening carefully to the conversations between her neighbours and regular bus users.  She came to know that the town was just six miles from her village and the fare for the bus journey was thirty paise one way. The trip took 45 minutes.  Valli planned her visit to the town. She saved sixty paise for the fare. Finally, one day she took the one o’clock bus to the town.  Valli was very happy to have got into the bus.  On the way to the town, Valli saw a cow running right in front of the bus. She clapped as the cow kept on running towards the bus despite the continuous honking by the driver.  Valli did not get off the bus when it reached the town.
