1) Nature is defined by the rainfall, climate, topographic features of the place and does not depend on man-made or developed resources.
2) Technology is developed with the nature and natural resources of the place, technology is developed for man's facilitation.
3) Institutions develop technologies based on resources. These technologies are used to utilize better resources which expand the institutions, and in return those institutions develop better technologies for better utilization of resources.

1) Ploughing across elevation contour lines. The contour lines break water run offs during heavy rainfall, impeding soil erosion.
2) Practicing terrace farming: This is where graduated steps of land are made on the slope to control soil erosion.
3) Planting strips of grass: Grass on the slopes acts as water and wind breaker, therefore limiting the process of erosion.

the soil particles are loosened or washed away in the valleys, oceans, rivers, streams or far away lands. This has been worsening due to human activities such as agriculture and deforestation.

  • It is the natural process of wearing away of the topsoil, but human activities have accelerated the process.
  • It is usually caused due to the removal of vegetation, or any activity that renders the ground dry.
  • Farming, grazing, mining, construction and recreational activities are some of the causes of soil erosion.
  • The effects of soil erosion are not just land degradation. It has led to a drastic increase in pollution and sedimentation in rivers that clogs the water bodies resulting in a decline in the population of aquatic organisms.
  • Degraded lands lose the water holding capacity resulting in floods.

???? 1 :- Limestone is heated to furnish carbon - dioxide and lime. CaCO3 (s) (by heat) ----> CaO (s) + CO2 (g). ???? 2 :- Carbon dioxide and ammonia gases are bubbled into a saturated solution of sodium chloride (NaCl) at 15°C. NaCl + NH3 + CO2 + H2O ---> NaHCO3 + NH4Cl Sodium Hydrocarbonate (NaHCO3) is sparingly soluble in water at 15°C and is filtered out. ???? 3 :- On heating, NaHCO3 gives sodium carbonate (Na2CO3). 2NaHCO3 (s) (by heat) ---> Na2CO3 (s) + CO2 (g) + H2O (g) Anhydrous sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) thus obtained is called soda ash. Sodium carbonate readily dissolves in water. The solution on evaporation below 32°C gives crystals of sodium carbonate, Decahydrate, i.e., Na2CO3.10H2O.
