The potential difference in a conductor is directly proportional to the flow of electric current. V is directly proportional to I when we remove the sign of proportionality then we get.. V= IR ( here R is the resistance of a conductor)

Ohm’s law states ‘The current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the potential difference V across its ends, provided the temperature and physical conditions of the conductor remain the same’. If I is the current flowing through a conductor and V is the potential difference (or voltage) across its ends, the according to Ohm's law: begin mathsize 14px style straight I proportional to straight V straight V over straight I equals constant equals straight R straight V equals IR end style begin mathsize 14px style straight V over straight R equals straight I end style 'R' is constant for a given metallic wire at a given temperature, and this constant is named resistance. It is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it. Its SI unit is ohm which is denoted as begin mathsize 14px style straight capital omega end style.
