General formula :- x²+(a+b) x+(ab) According to question, a+b = 1/4 -----(eq 1) ab =-1 ------ (eq 2) Putting eq 1 and 2 in general formula, x²+1/4x+(-1)=0 x²+1/4x-1=0 4x²+1x-4= 0 Hence, 4x²+1x-4 is required quadratic equation.
