India had a long tradition of building various structures to manage water resources. Irrigation systems were built as early as during the Mauryan Empire.
At present, many multipurpose dam projects had been built in India. These dams serve many purposes. They prevent flood by checking the flow of water. The water from the dams is used through a system of canals to irrigate far flung areas. Dams are also used for electricity generation. Moreover, drinking water is also supplied from the dams.
But dams have caused a lot of people being displaced from their ancestral lands. Additionally, a vast tract of land gets submerged in the catchment area of dam. This results in large scale environmental consequences. Due to these reasons, many movement groups have begun protesting against building of large dams. Narmada Bachao Andolan is an example of one such movement.

Since, 237 > 81
On applying Euclid’s division algorithm, we get
237 = 81 × 2 + 75 ...(i)
81 = 75 × 1 + 6 ...(ii)
75 = 6 × 12 + 3 ...(iii)
6 = 3 × 2 + 0 ...(iv)
Hence, and HCF (81, 237) = 3. 1 Write 3 in the form of 81x + 237y, move backwards
3 = 75 – 6 × 12 [From (iii)]
= 75 – (81 – 75 × 1) × 12 [Replace 6 from (ii)]
= 75 – (81 × 12 – 75 × 1 × 12)
= 75 – 81 × 12 + 75 × 12
= 75 + 75 × 12 – 81 × 12
= 75 ( 1 + 12) – 81 × 12
= 75 × 13 – 81 × 12
= 13(237 – 81 × 2) – 81 × 12 [Replace 75 from (i)]
= 13 × 237 – 81 × 2 × 13 – 81 × 12
= 237 × 13 – 81 (26 + 12)
= 237 × 13 – 81 × 38
= 81 × (– 38) + 237 × (13)
= 81x + 237y
Hence, x = – 38 and y = 13

Plants have two different types of 'transport' tissue. Xylem transports water and solutes from the roots to the leaves, phloem transports food from the leaves to the rest of the plant.
Plants use two different strategies; transpirational pull and root pressure for the transportation of water and minerals during day and night.
Root Pressure is the positive pressure created by the movement of water from the roots to the soil for upward movement of water. The effect of root pressure in the transport of water is more important at night.
Transpiration pull is the pull of water as a result of tension created by transpiration in the aerial parts of the plant. It is the major driving force of water movement upwards in a plant during the day. Transpiration is the process by which water evaporates from the leaves, which results in more water being drawn up from the roots.
