Let √6 be a rational number , then

√6 = p÷q , where p,q are integers , q not = 0 and p,q have no common factors ( except 1 )

=> 6 = p² ÷ q²

=> p² = 2q² ................(i)

As 2 divides 6q² , so 2 divides p² but 2 is a prime number

=> 2 divides p

Let p = 2m , where m is an integer .

Substituting this value of p in (i) , we get

(2m)² = 6q²

=> 2m² = 3q²

As 2 divides 2m² , 2 divides 3q²

=> 2 divides 3 or 2 divide q²

But 2 does not divide 3 , therefore , 2 divides q²

=> 2 divides q

Thus , p and q have a common factor 2 . This contradicts that p and q have no common factors ( except 1 ).

Hence , our supposition is wrong . Therefore , √6 is an irrational number.

The stomata are primarily meant for absorption of CO2  but the water vapors also escape through stomata and cause transpiration. Thus transpiration is called as a necessary evil because it is an inevitable process. The loss of water can lead to wilting, serious desiccation, and shortage of water. Transpiration helps in the ascent of the sap and the pulling of the water from the roots to the tips. Thus is it considered to be a necessary evil.

A-3,b-1

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 11 months ago

Given, x=a and y=b.
Given equations, x-y=2( assume it as equation 1)
x + y = 4( assume it as equation 2)

Equation 1+2,
x-y = 2
x+y = 4
- - - - - - -
2x = 6( y gets cancelled as there is a negative y and a positive y implies y-y=0)
x  = 6/2
x = 3
But x = a implies a =3
substitute a in equation 1 (it can be substituted even in equation 2)
x-y=2
3-y=2
y=3-2
y=1
But y=b implies b=1
Therefore, a=3 and b=1

Perimeter of semicircle= πr + 2r
perimeter is 36cm
36 = 22/7r + 2r
36 = 22r + 14r/7
36 = 36r/7
r = 36 × 7/36
r = 7
Diameter = 2 × 7

The narrator took the risk to fly the aeroplane straight into the cloudy storm and found himself trapped in black clouds. The compass started turning round and round and jumped and twisted in the air. The narrator was alarmed to see that all the other instruments including the radio were dead. Then, suddenly to his amazement, the narrator saw another plane and the pilot of that plane waving at him. He was much relieved to find someone sailing with him in the same boat. However, the thought of lesser fuel left made the narrator worried. As he followed the other pilot down, he soon realized that he had reached the runway and had landed safely.

Total surface area = 216 cm²
Let the side of the cube = a
Thus 6a² = 216
⇒ a² = 216/6
⇒ a² = 36
⇒ a = √36
⇒ a = 6 cm

Volume = a³ cm³ = 6³ cm³ = 216 cm³

Khilafat Movement

The Khilafat issue gave him the opportunity to bring the Hindus and Muslims on a common platform. The Ottoman Turkey was badly defeated in the First World War. There were rumours about a harsh peace treating likely to be imposed on the Ottoman emperor; who was the spiritual head of the Islamic world (the Khalifa). A Khilafat committed was formed in Bombay in March 1919 to defend the Khalifa. This committee had leaders like the brothers Muhammad Ali and Shaukat Ali. They also wanted Mahatma Gandhi to take up the cause to build a united mass action. At the Calcutta session of the Congress in September 1920, the resolution was passed to launch a non-cooperation movement in support of Khilafat and also for swaraj.
