Let us assume √2 is rational number.
a rational number can be written into he form of p/q
√2=p/q
p=√2q
Squaring on both sides
p²=2q²__________(1)
.·.2 divides p² then 2 also divides p
.·.p is an even number
Let p=2a (definition of even number,'a' is positive integer)
Put p=2a in eq (1)
p²=2q²
(2a)²=2q²
4a²=2q²
q²=2a²
.·.2 divides q² then 2 also divides q
Both p and q have 2 as common factor.
But this contradicts the fact that p and q are co primes or integers.
Our supposition is false
.·.√2 is an irrational number.

Area = s(s-h) Area = 30(30-25) = 30*5 = 150

Aman Narwal 5 years, 11 months ago

Area of triangle=150

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 11 months ago

Perimeter of that triangle = 60cm

the measure of hypotaneous = 25cm

then the rest sides must measure = 60-25
= 35

let one side be x
then, thw measure of the third side must be 35 - x

using pythagoras theorem

(25)^2 =(x)22 + (35-x)2
625 = x2 + x2 - 70x + 1225

x2 + x2 - 70x + 1225 = 625

x2 + x2 - 70x + 1225 -625 = 0

2 x2 - 70x + 600 = 0
2x2 - 40x - 30 x + 600= 0
2x (x-20) -30 ( x - 20) = 0
(x-20)(2x-30)=0

x -20 = 0
x = 20

2x -30 =0
2x =30
x = 15

so,
one of the side measure either 20 cm 15 cm

if one side measure 20cm then the other must measure 35 -20 = 15cm

and if it measured 15 cm then the other side measure 35-15 = 20 cm

so,we will get 20cm and 15 cm as our remaining sides.

one of then will be height and the other misy be the base,
now apply the formula of area of triangle i.e
(1/2) (height)(base)
= (1/2 )(20)(15)

= 150 cm2

so, the area of that triangle will be 150 cm2.

  • The metals at the top of the activity series are highly reactive.
  • They cannot be obtained from their compounds by heating with carbon.
  • These metals have more affinity for oxygen.
  • These metals are obtained by electrolytic reduction.
  • Sodium ions migrate to the cathode, where electrons enter the melt and are reduced to sodium metal.
  • Chloride ions migrate the other way, toward the anode. They give up their electrons to the anode and are oxidized to chlorine gas.

Using mid point formula ,

=> ( (x1 + x2 )/ 2 , (y1 + y2)/2 )

therefore , using above formula ,

=> mid point of (-5,7) and (-1,3) is

=> x- coordinate = [-1+(-5)]/2 = = -6/2 = -3

and y coordinate = (7+3)/2 = 5

=> coordinates are (-3 , 5 )

1. Minerals occur in methamorphic rocks in veins and lodges. 2. In sedimentary rocks the minerals are present in between the thin layers of soil. 3. Minerals are also produced by the process of weathering. After weathering a solid mass of minerals can be obtained. Bauxite is found this way. 4. Various minerals flow with the river water and gets deposited in the base of the valley. Minerals kike gold and silver are found this way. 5. Minerals like sodium are extracted from the ocean water. Mendel selected true breeding tall (TT) and dwarf (tt) pea plants.When a tall pea plant is crossed with a short (dwarf) pea plant, all the F1 hybrids are tall. (i.e., in this case, the gene causing tallness is dominant while the gene causing dwarfness is recessive.).The trait expressing itself in the hybrid is the dominant one.

(Mendel’s first law of inheritance states that when a pair of contrasting factors is brought in a hybrid, one factor inhibits the appearance of the other. The one which inhibits is the dominant one and which is inhibited is recessive.)

  • In Mendel’s experiment of breeding tall (TT) and dwarf (tt) plants, Mendel found that all plants in the F1 generation were tall.
  • The F1 generation had genetic constitution Tt. It is genotypically a hybrid and a heterozygous plant having two different alleles, T and t.
  • Phenotypically, the plant is tall because the allele or the gene T for tallness masks the effect of its corresponding recessive gene t.
  • So, dwarf plants with genotype (tt) were not obtained in the F1 generation. This implies that out of two, one of the contrasting characters for a particular trait is dominant which masks the expression of the other character which then becomes recessive.
  • This experiment showed that traits may be dominant or recessive, depending on their expression in the F1 generation.

Most of the dirt is oily in nature and oil does not dissolve in water. The molecule of soap constitutes sodium or potassium salts of long-chain carboxylic acids. In the case of soaps, the carbon chain dissolves in oil and the ionic end dissolves in water. Thus the soap molecules form structures called micelles. In micelles, one end is towards the oil droplet and the other end which is the ionic faces outside. Therefore, it forms an emulsion in water and helps in dissolving the dirt when we wash our clothes. Soap is a kind of molecule in which both the ends have different properties. Hydrophilic end Hydrophobic end The first one is the hydrophilic end which dissolves water and is attracted towards it whereas the second one is the hydrophobic end that is dissolved in hydrocarbons and is water repulsive in nature. If on the surface of the water, soap is present then the hydrophobic tail which is not soluble in water will align along the water surface

Plaster of Paris hardens by combining with water. Explanation: Plaster of Paris is a salt of calcium metal which is also called as calcium sulfate hemihydrate. The chemical formula of plaster of Paris is CaSO4.1/2H2O It is formed by the intense heating of gypsum that is also a salt of calcium.   When we add water to plaster of Paris it becomes soften and forms a paste. This paste becomes harden after some time because of formation of string hydrogen bonding between molecules of plaster of Paris and water. I hope this ans help you ?
