Let the cost of a pen be Rs 'x' and the cost of a pencil box be Rs. 'y'

As, the cost of 4 pens and 4 pencil boxes is Rs. 100

So, 4x + 4y = 100 .................(1)

And, three times the cost of a pen is Rs. 15 more than the cost of a pencil box.

So, 3x = y + 15

⇒ 3x - y = 15 ......................(2)

Now multiplying the equation (1) by 3 and equation (2) by 4, we get

⇒ (4x + 4y = 100)*(3) = 12x + 12y = 300 ................(3)

⇒ (3x - y = 15)*(4) = 12x - 4y = 60 ..........................(4)

Now, subtracting (4) from (3)

  12x + 12y = 300
  12x -  4y   = 60
 -      +         -
_________________
         16y = 240
_________________

⇒ 16y = 240

⇒ y = 240/16

⇒ y = 15

Now, substituting the value of y = 15 in (2)

⇒ 3x - y = 15

⇒ 3x - 15 = 15

⇒ 3x = 15 + 15

⇒ 3x = 30

⇒ x = 30/3

⇒ x = 10

So, the cost of a pen is Rs. 10 and the cost of a pencil box is Rs. 15

The ninety five theises was written by the social reformer Martin Luther. He criticized about the practices of the Roman Catholic church in his theises and pasted it on the church door challenging the church to debate about it. Within few weeks 5000 copies were sold reaching the common people.

The panchayati raj system is a unique experiment in Indian democracy. It aims at decentralisation of power to the grass root levels. Under this system, villagers get the political mandate to manage their own affairs and hence participate in the democratic process of the country at large. Therefore, it enables the citizens of India to become a part of the political mainstream and have a say in government at the most basic level of administration. Also, the panchayati raj system ensures large scale meaningful political involvement of women. This ensures that their voice is heard by the political class and government policies are finetuned to suit the needs of women.

Distance of a point P (a, b) from X-axis is |b| and from Y-axis is |a|.

Therefore, the distance of point P(-3, -4) from X-axis is 4 (as distance is never negative).

U can't get the whole A.P until n is mentioned. I don't understand why people answer for 15th term of the A.P.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 10 months ago

A5 = 26
a + 4d = 260........... (1)
a10 = 51
a + 9d = 51...............(2)

Subtracting eq.(i) from eq.(ii) we get
d = 5
putting d = 5 in eq.(i) we get
a + 4(5) = 26
a + 20 = 26
a = 6
a15 = a + 14d
a15 = 6 + 14(5)
a15 = 6 + 70
a15 = 76
Hence the 15th term of the AP is 76.

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 10 months ago

When ethanoic acid reacts with sodium carbonate, a brisk effervescence of carbon dioxide gas is observed. The salt formed due to this reaction is sodium ethanoate.
The chemical equation for the above reaction is as follows:
2CH3COOH + Na2CO3  → 2CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O

Accountable, responsive and legitimate government, these are social outcomes of government.

In general, the basic outcome of democracy is that it produces a government which is also accountable to the citizens, as well as responsive to the needs and expectations of the citizens.

The democratic government is more accountable to its citizens.
