This excerpt was taken from the short "the midnight visitor". The story is about a spy named Ausable, his friend and a missile launch document. In order to protect the missile document from Max who came to stole it from Ausable, he pretend to be angry about the hotel management. He acted so smart by confessing that he had called the police to guard him and his room while he acknowledged Max hiding in his room. Asuable played further and made Max to jump from the window thinking there was a balcony outside the window.

Griffin was a scientist but a lawless person also. He misused his discovery of becoming invisible. He was also a revengeful person because he set fire to his landlord's house. He also disturbed everyone by his actions. He also robbed money from Drury Lane and also disturbed Mrs. Hall and robbed clergyman's housekeeping money.He was furious and quick tempered also.

Gruffin:-the invisible man was given many names in this novel. At first, he was the stranger who arrived at Iping. Then, he was the Voice that startled everybody. However, his real name was Griffin.
Though he was the protagonist of the story, all his deeds were more like that of an antagonist. He was an eccentric scientist. Though he was a gifted scientist, he used his mind in a sinister was. He devised an experiment to become invisible and then started looting and murdering whoever came in his way.
He was very irritable and impatient. He lost his temper over pretty things and started hurting others. He had lost all his sense of conscience and didn’t feel sorry even after his burglary led to his father’s death. Although he was lonely and seemed to have been misunderstood from time to time, he failed to gain sympathy due to his murderous rage and evil ways.
