Dams were build to control flood instead they are trigerring flood due to the continous usage of dams the sediments with mud settle at the bottom on reservoirs and as these are not cleaned regularly they low down the water holding capacity of reservior hence resulting to flood.

In the monsoon seasons when there is a heavy rainfall the dams would be opened up. But even after opening the dams if there is a high rainfall this may lead to floods in the regions where that particular dam is present.
