- Henry Ford adapted the assembly line of a Chicago slaughterhouse ( in which slaughtered animals were picked apart by the butchers as they came down a conveyer belt) in his new car plant in Detroit.
- He realised that the assembly line method would allow a faster and cheaper way of producing vehicles.
- The assembly line forced workers to repeat a single task mechanically and continuously - such as fitting a particular part to the car - at a pace dictated by the conveyer belt.

Cactus are adapted to survive in a desert as they have:
i. No leaves or have spiny leaves to prevent water loss through transpiration.
ii. Stem is modified in such a way that it performs photosynthesis and conserve water.
iii. Their roots go very deep into the soil for absorbing water.

On heating 
(baking soda), CO2 (carbon dioxide) gas is given out that turns limewater milky 
While on heating .10H2O (washing soda) water of crystallization is given out and the salt becomes anhydrous. The presence of water of crystallization given as product can be tested by treating .it with anhydrous 
(white) which becomes blue in colour in its contact.

The manufacturing sector is considered as the backbone of the economic development of the country because of the following reasons:
(i) Manufacturing sector helps in modernising agriculture which increases agricultural productivity.
(ii) Since a huge portion of India's population is dependent upon agricultural income, the manufacturing sector diminishes the heavy dependence of people on agriculture and provides jobs to a large number of people in the industrial as well as the service sectors.
(iii) It reduces poverty as well as unemployment from the country. The development of the manufacturing sector also aims to minimise regional disparities by setting up industries in tribal and backward regions of the country.
(iv) The export of manufactured goods expands trade and commerce.

Decomposition reactions are usually endothermic because they involve breaking of bonds. Breaking bonds requires an input of energy, while forming bonds releases energy. Since a decomposition reaction involves breaking bonds of a large molecule to form two or more smaller molecules, more bonds are broken than are formed, which means that the reaction will require a net input of energy making it endothermic. But there are decomposition reactions which are exothermic like decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.

A neutralization reaction is when an acid and a base react to form water and salt and involves the combination of hydrogen ions and hydroxyl ions to generate water. The neutralization of a strong acid and strong base has a pH equal to 7.
Example : When Sodium hydroxide is added to hydrochloric acid. Sodium chloride and water are formed.
NaOH + HCl ⟶ NaCl + H2O

Heterotrophic nutrition is the mode of nutrition in which an organism depends on other living organisms for food.
Depending on the type of food, heterotrophs can be divided into 3 types-
- Carnivores- organisms which eat only animals. Example- lion, snake.
- Herbivores- organisms which eat only plants. Example- rabbit, elephant.
Omnivores- organisms which eat both plants and animals. Example- crow, dog.

The cotton textile industries were mainly concentrated in the cotton growing belt of Gujarat and Maharashtra, in the early years because -
1. The moist climate of the area helped in the growth of cotton. So raw cotton was readily available in the area.
2. There were ports nearby so the manufactured goods could be easily transported.
3. There was enough labour force in the area. There were farmers, cotton ball pluckers and workers who did the work of spinning, weaving, dyeing, tailoring and sewing.
4. It was easy to access the markets for finished goods from here.
5. Other supporting industries involved in manufacturing dyes and packaging materials were available in the area.
