Unification of Britain:

(i) Britain was not a nation state prior to 18th century. The primary identities were based on ethnicity such as English, Welsh, Scot or Irish.

(ii) The steady growth of power made the English nation extend its influence over the other nations and islands.

(iii) In 1688, England established as a nation state. English parliament seized power from the monarchy.

(iv) In 1707, the United Kingdom of Great Britain formed with the Act of the Union between England and Scotland.

(v) England dominated Scotland and Ireland in all spheres. British Parliament was dominated by English members.

(vi) Ireland was forcibly taken by the British after the failed revolution led by Wolfe and his United Irishmen (1798) and a new "British Nation" was formed.

In mathematics, a rational number is a number that can be expressed as the quotient or fraction p/q of two integers, a numerator p and a non-zero denominator q. [1] Since q may be equal to 1, every integer is a rational number. The set of all rational numbers, often referred to as "the rationals", the field of rationals or the field of rational numbers is usually denoted by a boldface Q (or blackboard bold {\displaystyle \mathbb {Q} } \mathbb {Q} , Unicode ℚ);[2] it was thus denoted in 1895 by Giuseppe Peano after quoziente, Italian for "quotient". The decimal expansion of a rational number always either terminates after a finite number of digits or begins to repeat the same finite sequence of digits over and over. Moreover, any repeating or terminating decimal represents a rational number. These statements hold true not just for base 10, but also for any other integer base (e.g. binary, hexadecimal).

A number which can be expressed in the form of p by q where q is not equal to zero (0) Ex: 9/5

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 6 months ago

The rational numbers are numbers which can be expressed as a fraction and also as positive numbers, negative numbers and zero. It can be written as p/q, where q is not equal to zero.

Rational word is derived from the word ‘ratio’, which actually means a comparison of two or more values or integer numbers and is known as a fraction. In simple words, it is the ratio of two integers.

Example: 3/2 is a rational number. It means integer 3 is divided by another integer 2.

Industrial location factors Different industries require different inputs. Industries are more likely to locate where these inputs are readily and cheaply available. Factors that influence where an industry locates include: power supply communications - including transport, telecommunications labour supply - including workers with the right skills access to market - where the goods are sold grants and financial incentives - usually from governments raw materials Agglomeration and footloose industries These are two 'special cases' of industrial location. Agglomeration is when a number of producers in the same or related industries group themselves together. They do this to benefit from local skill pools, economies of scale or the prowess of a locality in a particular field. An example is the large number of financial services companies (eg banks and insurance companies) which are headquartered in the City of London. Footloose industries are those that are less dependent on factors that tie them to a specific geographical location. Unlike manufacturing industries, tertiary or services, companies do not have to be near a source of raw materials. As long as they have suitable transport, energy and communications links, they can locate themselves virtually anywhere in the world. Examples of footloose industries are computer software development, telephone sales and call centres.

Meghna Thapar 5 years, 6 months ago

The factors that affect the location of industries are the easy availability of raw material and land, adequate supply of water and labour, access to power and transport, presence of market and a good amount of capital.

Physical factors responsible for the location of industry include:

  • Availability of raw material
  • Suitable climate
  • Water and power supply
  • Availability of suitable transport facilities.

Speech on Water Water is said to be one of the earth’s most essential resources and rightly so. Human beings can survive without food for many weeks, but without water, one will die in just a few days. The earth’s uniqueness lies in the fact that it harbours life and it has water on its surface. Similarly, it can harbour life only because it has water so you see it is a primary thing. It is a proven fact that life was first found in water for billion years and then it entered the land. So, you see water’s ability to sustain life. However, nowadays, we are wasting water carelessly without realizing the utmost significance it carries in our lives.Water’s Significance for Humans While water is essential to all living things, humans have been using it for multiple purposes and it is of utmost significance to us. In other words, it is the most essential element to keep our bodies healthy and organs in good shape. We don’t only need it for drinking but also to regulate the temperature of our bodies. Furthermore, the agricultural field requires a lot of water. It is needed to produce crops and irrigate the fields so crops can grow successfully. After that, we have water as a mode of transport for passengers and goods. In addition, it is also an important source of electricity. We need water for hydroelectric power generation. Further, we also need it in our daily lives from bathing to cooking to the toilet. Even our gardens need water, for instance, the small fountains and more. Water is good for healthy skin and it helps to flush out toxins from our bodies. Sports like swimming and more require water. In fact, the water parks and more also need water.Need to Conserve Water Conservation of water is an urgent issue which the modern world is facing right now. As there has been an increase in the consumption of water, the need to conserve it arises even more. In other words, we need to come up with strategies and activities that will help conserve water. To begin with, water conservation is important for future generations. Moreover, it will also help in reducing the level of used energy. Most importantly, as water is home to millions of aquatic animals and plants, we need to save it to ??????????????????????????????????

What is DNA? DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other organisms. Nearly every cell in a person’s body has the same DNA. Most DNA is located in the cell nucleus (where it is called nuclear DNA), but a small amount of DNA can also be found in the mitochondria (where it is called mitochondrial DNA or mtDNA). Mitochondria are structures within cells that convert the energy from food into a form that cells can use. The information in DNA is stored as a code made up of four chemical bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). Human DNA consists of about 3 billion bases, and more than 99 percent of those bases are the same in all people. The order, or sequence, of these bases determines the information available for building and maintaining an organism, similar to the way in which letters of the alphabet appear in a certain order to form words and sentences. DNA bases pair up with each other, A with T and C with G, to form units called base pairs. Each base is also attached to a sugar molecule and a phosphate molecule. Together, a base, sugar, and phosphate are called a nucleotide. Nucleotides are arranged in two long strands that form a spiral called a double helix. The somewhat like a ladder, with the base pairs forming the ladder’s rungs and the sugar and phosphate molecules forming the vertical sidepieces of the ladder. An important property of DNA is that it can replicate, or make copies of itself. Each strand of DNA in the double helix can serve as a pattern for duplicating the sequence of bases. This is critical when cells divide because each new cell needs to have an exact copy of the DNA present in the old cell.DNA is a double helix formed by base pairs attached to a sugar-phosphate backbone. DNA is a double helix formed by base pairs attached to a sugar-phosphate backbone.???????????????

DNA or Deoxyribonucleotide is the basis of genetic mechanism.  Genes are the specific parts of chromosomes or Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid (DNA) segments which determine the hereditary characteristics.

Importance of DNA copying in reproduction:

  • DNA copying mechanism is extremely necessary for reproduction as copying of DNA helps in transfer of information or characters from parents to offspring.
  • It also generates variations during sexual reproduction. This variation leads to evolution.
  • DNA copying is also necessary because DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) is the genetic material found in chromosomes, which are present in the nucleus of a cell.
  • DNA determines the body design of an individual. It carries the genetic information and key for the production of every type of cell proteins, which control the function of living organisms.
  • DNA copying also helps in proper survival of the organism by similar copying and variation during DNA copying leads to evolution

Genes are functional units of heredity as they are made of DNA. It is a subdivision of DNA and is mainly passed down from parents to their children. Genes are generally organized and packaged in components called chromosomes. And DNA ,It is a biomolecule made out of two long, twisted strands, containing complementary genetic information. These strands of DNA holds the blueprint for all the living organisms.
