Newlands’ law of octaves
- In 1866 an English scientist John Newlands arranged the elements in the order of
increasing atomic masses starting from the hydrogen having lowest atomic mass to the 56th element named thorium having the highest atomic mass among the elements discovered at that time. - It was found that every eighth element possessed properties similar to that of the first. Sodium is the eighth element after Lithium possessing properties similar to one another. Similarly, beryllium and magnesium resemble each other.
- This was comparable to octaves found in music and hence was called the ‘Law of Octaves’ or ‘Newlands’ Law of Octaves’.
- But the Law of Octaves was applicable only up to calcium, after which every eighth element did not resembled the first element.

The Belgian leaders amended their Constitution four times between 1970 and 1993, to work out an arrangement agreeable to all sections of society.
(i) The number of Dutch and French-speaking ministers are equal in the central government.
(ii) Many powers of the central government have been given to state government of the two regions of the country.
(iii) The state governments are not subordinate to the central government.
(iv) Brussels has a separate government in which both the communities have equal representation.
(v) The ‘Community Government’ is elected by people belonging to one language community–Dutch, French and German-speaking – no matter where they live.

Calcium hydroxide reacts with carbon dioxide to form calcium carbonate.
Aqueous calcium hydroxide reacts with carbon dioxide to form a white precipitate, calcium carbonate, and water. Carbon dioxide dissolves in water to produce carbonic acid,The carbonic acid reacts with OH- to produce the carbonate ion that precipitates with calcium ion.

Most of the India’s iron ore is found in the peninsular plateau, almost in all the states of the plateau.
Karnataka : It ranks first in the production of iron ore. The major iron ore fields are
(i) Hospet in Bellari district,
(ii) Bababudan hills,
(iii) Kalahandi and Kamangudi in Chickmaglur district. It is also found in Chitradurga, Shimoga and Tumkur districts.
Chhattisgarh: It occupies second place contributing about 22.2% of the total output. The major fields are Bailadila in Bastar. Dalli, Rajhera in Durg district, Rajgarh, Bilaspur and Sarguja districts.
Orissa : It is found in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Cuttak and Sundargarh.
Goa : It occupies fourth place in the production of iron ore.
Jharkhand : It is the fifth largest producer of iron ore. Jharkhand has some of the oldest iron ore mines and most of the iron and steel plants are located around them. Most of the important mines such as Noamundi and Gua are located in Poorbi and Pashchimi Singhbhum districts. This belt further extends to Durg, Dantewara and Bailadila.
Maharashtra : The districts of Chandrapur, Bhandara and Ratnagiri are important regions of Maharashtra.

Giuseppe Mazzini He was an Italian revolutionary, who was born in Genoa in 1807. He was sent into exile at the age of 24 in 1831 for attempting a revolution in Liguria. He founded two secret societies, namely Young Italy and Young Europe. He inspired the young members of these societies to involve in revolutionary activities.
Following his ideas and on the model of his secret societies, more such societies were set up in Germany, France, Switzerland and Poland. Austrian Chancellor Duke Matternich once described him as ‘the most dangerous enemy of our social order’.

Baking powder has acid powder mixed with it.Wheareas baking soda needs acid to start action.More importantly baking powder can be eaten but baking soda can't be eaten.So,we use baking powder in cake.

Lencho was a farmer. He was not so poor and not so rich farmer. He was having a great faith in God. This we came to know from his letter addressed to God. He did so for the compensation of his crops. If an iron nail is dipped in the copper sulphate solution then iron displaces copper from the copper sulphate because iron is more reactive than copper. Therefore the colour of the copper sulphate solution changes.
