Atomic number of Sodium (Na) – 11
Electronic configuration of Sodium – 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1
It has one valence electron, it will lose one electron to get octet configuration
Atomic number of Oxygen (O) – 8
Electronic configuration of Oxygen – 1s2 2s2 2p4
It is two electrons short of octet configuration, thus it will gain two electrons.
During the bond formation between Sodium and Oxygen, two Sodium atoms loses one electron each to Oxygen atom.
2 Na -2e- → 2Na+
O + 2e- → O-2
2Na+ + O-2 → Na2O
Atomic number of Magnesium (Mg) – 12
Electronic configuration of Magnesium – 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2
It has two valence electrons, it will lose two electrons to get octet configuration
Atomic number of Oxygen (O) – 8
Electronic configuration of Oxygen – 1s2 2s2 2p4
It is two electrons short of octet configuration, thus it will gain two electrons.
During the bond formation between Magnesium and Oxygen, one Magnesium atom loses two electrons to Oxygen atom.
Mg -1e- → Mg2+
O + 2e- → O-2
Mg+2 + O-2 → MgO

Let’s assume the two numbers be x and y. And also assume that x is greater than or equal to y.
So as per the question, we can write the sum of the two numbers as
x + y = 1000 ……….. (i)
Again it’s given that, the difference between the squares of the two numbers, thus writing it
x2 – y2 = 256000
⇒ (x + y) (x – y) = 256000
⇒ 1000(x - y) = 256000
⇒ x – y = 256000/1000
⇒ x – y = 256 ………….. (ii)
By solving (i) and (ii), we can find the two numbers
On adding the equations (i) and (ii), we get;
(x + y) + (x - y) = 1000 + 256
⇒ x + y + x – y =1256
⇒ 2x = 1256
⇒ x = 1256/ 2
⇒ x = 628
Now, putting the value of x in equation (i), we get
628 + y =1000
⇒ y = 1000 – 628
⇒ y = 372
Hence, the two required numbers are 628 and 372.

- Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the market value of the final goods and services produced during a year within the domestic territory of a country.
- Here only final goods and services are counted to avoid the problem of double counting.
- For e.g. a farmer sold wheat to flour mill for Rs. 10 per kg. The mill grinds the wheat and sold the flour to a biscuit company for Rs. 12 per kg. The biscuit company uses the flour, sugar and butter to make 5 biscuit packets. He sold the biscuit to the consumer at Rs. 15 per biscuit packet.
- Here biscuits are the final goods that are purchased by the consumer. Wheat and wheat flour are the intermediate goods used in the production of final good.
- The value of Rs. 75 already includes the value of flour Rs. 12.
- Hence only the value of final goods and services.
Therefore, GDP = Value of output − Intermediate Consumption

Lencho was a hard working farmer. He had grown corn in his field and was waiting for rain anxiously. He was very happy to see the rain but it later turned to worry as the rain became a storm and destroyed his fields. He had deep faith in God and after the destruction of the field, he was hopeful that everything will be all right. Although Lencho was a very strong man and worked hard in the field, his faith in God made him write a letter to God. He asked for hundred pesos from God and was confident of receiving the amount. When he received only seventy pesos he again wrote to God asking for the remaining money and accusing the postal department for stealing money. This shows that Lencho was a religious man.

CONCAVE MIRRORS;
1. They always produce real and inverted images except when an object is placed between the mirror pole and the focus which gives erect virtual images. (for real objects)
2. They produce magnified, diminished and same size images.
3.A parallel beam of incident light is concentrated on its focus and thus such a mirror is called a convergent mirror. Also a light source placed at the focus produces a parallel light beam.
4.Sign convention: The focal length and radius of curvature are taken as negative.
