So, r (radius) = 0.15 mm = 0.15*10^-3m Resistivity, p = R*A / l = R*πr^2 / l = 40*3.14*(0.15*10^-3) ^2 / 2 = 20*3.14*2.25*10^-6 = 3.14*45*10^-6 = 140.9*10^-6 = 1.409 * 10 ^-4 Therefore, the resistivity is 1.409 * 10^-4 ohm-m.

?the coloured part is petals use to attract pollinators for pollination And the lower small leaves is known as sepals used to protect the flowers from the cold and pests

Yogita Ingle 5 years, 4 months ago

Petals are modified leaves that surround the reproductive parts of flowers. They are often brightly colored or unusually shaped to attract pollinators.

The sepals are the lower, or outermost, part of the flower. They fold over the tender, closed bud and protect it from cold and other injuries while it is developing. Usually sepals are green. In many flowers, however, they are as colorful as the petals and increase the flower's attractiveness to insects.

Let the base of the triangle then altitude of the triangle

            Hypotenuse = 13 cm

By Pythagoras theorem

            (Hypotenuse) 2 = (Base)+ (altitude)2

Length can not be negative hence we choose x = 12 cm

Altitude = x - 7 = 12 - 7 = 5 cm

Large scale participation of women was an important feature of the Civil Disobedience Movement. During the Salt March, thousands of women came out of their homes to listen to the speeches of Gandhi. women participated in protest marches, manufactured salt, and picketed foreign cloth and liquor shops. Many went to jail. While women of high caste families participated from urban areas, in rural areas they came from rich peasant households. But this did not bring about any radical changes in the positin of women. For a long time the Congress was reluctant to allow women to hold any position of authority within the organisation.

Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleev, a Russian scientist arranged the elements in increasing order of their relative atomic masses. He was honoured with Noble prize in 1906 for his Periodic Table.

Mendeleev’s Periodic Law states that the properties of elements are the periodic function of their relative atomic masses.

Mendeleev arranged all 63 elements; which were discovered till his time; in the order of their increasing relative atomic masses in a tabular form. It is known as Mendeleev’s Periodic Table. He divided the table in eight columns and seven rows. The columns are known as groups and rows are known as periods.

  • Elements are arranged in the periodic table in the increasing order of their relative atomic masses.
  • Mendeleev divided his periodic table in eight groups and seven periods.
  • Groups from I to VII are meant for normal elements and group VIII is for transition elements.
  • Groups from I to VII have been divided in two sub groups, while group VIII is meant for three elements.
  • Periods from 4th to 7th have been divided in two series: 1st series and 2nd series.
  • Elements having similar properties have been kept in the same group. For example; lithium, potassium, rubidium, etc. are in 1st group.

The number of roots of a polynomial equation is equal to its degree. Hence, a quadratic equation has 2 roots. Let α and β be the roots of the general form of the quadratic equation :ax2 + bx + c = 0. We can write:

α = (-b-√b2-4ac)/2a                 and                     β = (-b+√b2-4ac)/2a

Here a, b, and c are real and rational. Hence, the nature of the roots α and β of equation ax2 + bx + c = 0 depends on the quantity or expression (b2 – 4ac) under the square root sign. We say this because the root of a negative number can’t be any real number. Say x= -1 is a quadratic equation. There is no real number whose square is negative. Therefore for this equation, there are no real number solutions.

Hence, the expression (b2 – 4ac) is called the discriminant of the quadratic equation ax2 + bx + c = 0. Its value determines the nature of roots as we shall see. Depending on the values of the discriminant, we shall see some cases about the nature of roots of different quadratic equations

Calcination - It is the process of converting an ore into its oxide by heating strongly, below its melting point either in a limited supply or in absence of air. This method is commonly used for converting carbonates and hydroxides to their respective oxides. During calcination, moisture and volatile impurities are also removed.

For example: Calcium carbonate is converted into calcium oxide by calcination.

Apart from being scarce in nature, resources take millions of years to develop. . Over exploitation of these resources may exhaust them. Judicious use of resources is known as conservation of resources.

The principle of sustainable development should be followed while utilizing resources. Sustainable development can be defined as careful utilisation of resources to meet the requirements of the present generation as well as that of the future generation. Some common ways in which we can conserve resources are

1. To switch off fans and light when not in use

2. To not waste paper

3. To use water carefully

4. To harvest water

5. To reduce consumption, recycle and reuse waste materials

The heart is an organ that pumps blood throughout the body. Human circulatory system is responsible for the transport of materials inside the human body. The organs of the circulatory system are heart, arteries, veins and capillaries. It comprises four chambers:

  • Atria (upper chambers)
  • Ventricles (lower chambers)

Layers of heart

The wall of the heart is made up of three layers:

  • Epicardium- This is a protective layer made of connective tissues.
  • Myocardium- This layer forms the heart muscles.
  • Endocardium- This is the innermost layer and protects the valves and the heart.
