The various steps involved in the process of nutrition are:
Ingestion: Amoeba ingests food with the help of its finger-like extensions, called pseudopodia. When a food particle approaches Amoeba, it forms pseudopodia around it and forms a food vacuole inside the Amoeba.
Digestion: Various enzymes from the cytoplasm enter into the food vacuole and break them down into simple soluble molecules.
Absorption: The simple soluble food is absorbed by cytoplasm of Amoeba from food vacuoles through the process of diffusion.
Assimilation: Amoeba cell obtains energy from the absorbed food through respiration. This energy is utilised by Amoeba for its growth and repair of the body.
Egestion: When a considerable amount of undigested food gets collected inside Amoeba, its cell membrane ruptures and throws out the undigested food.

There are three major differences between a national party and regional/state party:
- National parties have influence all over the country or in several states of India. The influence of a state party is limited to a state or region.
- National parties take interest in national as well as international issues; whereas regional or state parties are interested in promoting regional/state interest only.
- The national parties have to harmonise the national as well as state interests; whereas state parties usually stand for greater autonomy for states.

अनुभाव – अनुभाव दो शब्दों ‘अनु’ और भाव के मेल से बना है। ‘अनु’ अर्थात् पीछे या बाद में अर्थात् आश्रय के मन में पनपे भाव और उसकी वाह्य चेष्टाएँ अनुभाव कहलाती हैं।
जैसे-चुटकुला सुनकर हँस पड़ना, तालियाँ बजाना आदि चेष्टाएँ अनुभाव हैं।

बालगोबिन भगत कबीर के पक्के भक्त थे। वे कभी झूठ नहीं बोलते थे और हमेशा खरा व्यवहार करते थे। वे किसी की चीज का उपयोग बिना अनुमति माँगे नहीं करते थे। उनकी इन्हीं विशेषताओं के कारण वे साधु कहलाते थे।

बालगोबिन भगत मंझलें कद के गोरे चिट्टे व्यक्ति थे, जिनकी आयु ६० वर्ष से अधिक थी। उनके बाल सफ़ेद थे ।वे दाढ़ी तो नहीं रखते थे ,पर उनके चेहरे पर सफेद बाल जगमगाते रहते थे। वे कमर में एक लंगोटी और सिर पर कबीरपंथियों जैसी कनफटी टोपी पहनते थे। सर्दियां आती तो ऊपर से एक काली कमली ओढ़ लेते थे। उनके माथे पर सदा रामानंदी चंदन चमकता था जो नाक के एक छोर से ही औरतों के टीके की तरह शुरू होता था। वे अपने गले में तुलसी की जड़ों की एक बेडौल माला बांधे रहते थे। उनमें साधुओं वाली सारी बातें थी। वे कबीर को ‘साहब’ मानते थे; उन्हीं के गीत गाते रहते थे और उन्हीं के आदेशों पर चलते थे। वे कभी झूठ नहीं बोलते थे और सदा खरा व्यवहार करते थे। हर बात साफ़ साफ़ करते थे किसी से व्यर्थ झगड़ा नहीं करते थे। किसी की चीज़ को कभी छूते तक नहीं थे। वे दूसरों के खेत में शौच तक के लिए नहीं बैठते थे। उनके खेत में जो कुछ पैदा होता था उसे सिर पर रखकर चार कोस दूर कबीरपंथी मठ में ले जाते थे और प्रसाद रूप में जो कुछ मिलता वहीं वापस ले आते थे।

नवाब साहब की भाव-भंगिमा देखकर लेखक के मन में यह विचार आया कि नवाब साहब का मुँह खीरे के स्वाद की कल्पना से ही भर गया है। पूर्व में इनकार कर चुकने के कारण आत्मसम्मान की रक्षा के लिए लेखक ने खीरा खाने से इंकार कर दिया।
