Few unsatisfactory features of our land use pattern:
i) The land under permanent pasture has decreased.
ii) Forest area of the country is far lower than the desired 33% of the geographical area, as it was outlined in the National Forest Policy (1952).
III) Some human activities such as deforestation, overgrazing, mining and quarrying have contributed to the degradation of about 130 million hectares of land in India.

It is given that,
∠POQ =110°
Since, the Iangent at any point of a circle is perpendicular to the radius through the point of contact.
∴ ∠OPT = 90°
and ∠OQT = 90°
Now, in quadrilateral POQT.
∠POQ + ∠OQT + ∠PTQ + ∠OPT = 360°
(angle sum property of quadrilateral)
⇒110° + 90° + ∠PTQ + 90° = 360°
⇒ ∠PTQ + 290° = 360°
⇒ ∠PTQ = 70°

The Seed Germination Process :
1) Imbibition: water fills the seed.
2) The water activates enzymes that begin the plant's growth.
3) The seed grows a root to access water underground.
4) The seed grows shoots that grow towards the sun.
5) The shoots grow leaves and begin photmorphogenesis.

The process by which a seed grows into a new plant is called germination. When the seed get all the necessary things like air, water, warmth, space and nutrients from the soil the process of germination starts. During the early stages the seeds will get food from the cotyledons.

Periscope is used to observe objects around an obstacle. The light from the objects enters the periscope from one end and emerges from the other end and enters into our eyes. We use mirrors inside a periscope to make the light bend in the direction we want to see it.
Periscope is an instrument used for observation around or through an obstacle that prevents direct line-in-sight observation from the observer position.

Voltmeter is an electrical measuring device, which is used to measure potential difference between two points in a circuit. Voltmeter is always connected in parallel to a circuit.
Since Galvanometer is a very sensitive instrument, therefore it can not measure high potential difference. In order to convert a Galvanometer into voltmeter, a very high resistance known as "series resistance" is connected in series with the galvanometer.

(i) Take three resistors R1,R2 and R3 and connected them in parallel to make the circuit ; s shown in figure.
(ii) Use voltmeter to take reading of potential difference of three resistors in parallel combination.
(iii) Now, remove the resistors R1 and take the reading of potential difference of remaining resistor's combination.
(iv) Then , remove the resistor R2 and take the reading of potential difference of remaining resistor.
Observation : Voltmeter reading was same in each case. This shows that the potential difference exists across three resistors connected in a parallel arrangement.

- Cutting tools that employ CO2 lasers are widely used in industries. They are precise, easy-to-automate and don’t need sharpening, unlike knives.
- We use robot-guided lasers to cut pieces of cloth to make things such as denim jeans than using our bare hands. They are faster, more accurate and improve efficiency and productivity.
- Every time you play a CD or a DVD, a semiconductor laser beam bounces off the spinning disc to convert its printed pattern of data into numbers; a computer chip converts these numbers into movies, music, and sound.
- Lasers are used in fibre optic cables and a technology known as photonics which uses photons of light to communicate.
- The military uses laser guided weapons and missiles.
