Metallic oxides are basic in nature because they react with dilute acid to form salt water. They release OH- ions. Thus, we can say that metallic oxides are basic.

Vegetative propagation is the production of new plants from the vegetative parts of the plant. Roots, stems and leaves are called the vegetative parts of a plant.

Vegetative propagation takes place by both natural methods and artificial methods.

Artificial methods of vegetative propagation include grafting, layering, cutting.

a) Grafting involves fusion of tissues of one plant with those of another plant. Grafting is a vegetative method of propagation for apples and roses. The grafted plant consist of a scion and rootstock. Scion is the upper part of grafted plant that forms the shoot where the rootstock is the lower portion of the grafted plant which forms the roots.Scions are selected for good characteristics such as flowers, fruits where rootstocks are selected as the plant benefit through the efficient intake of nutrients from soil as well for disease, pest and drought resistence. In root stock grafting scion of desired plant is inserted to a rootstock by making an inward cut in the rootstock and sealing the graft area.

Layering: This involves bending of a young stem towards the ground and burying it under the soil for development of roots . After a period of time, as the roots develop, the bent stem is cut off from the parent plant. This acts as a new plant. e.g. Jasmine.

Cutting: It involves planting a young cutting of the stem with buds into moist soil. This develops roots which absorb nutrition from the soil and help in the growth of new plant. e.g. Bougainvellia. Cutting: It involves planting a young cutting of the stem with buds into moist soil. In order to conduct electricity a substance must have charge particles, such as electrons and ions, that are free to move freely through it. In the solid state, ionic compounds such as sodium chloride have their ions fixed in position and therefore these ions cannot move so solid ionic compounds cannot conduct electricity. However in the molten state, ions in ionic compounds are free to flow and therefore molten sodium chloride can conduct electricity.

Curd and sour substances are all acidic and Copper &Brass are the most reactive metals. When these substances are kept in contact with reactive metals , they highly react with these metals . This result in the change of taste of sour substances and these metals gets corrode.

Pragati Verma 5 years, 2 months ago

Copper is a metal which can react with an acid to form metal oxides, the same goes for brass too since it is an alloy of copper and zinc, and since curd contains lactic acid it can react with the metal in copper and brass and can make metal oxide hence that can cause food poisoning.... Similarly since sourness is a property in acids they can also cause food poisoning if kept in any metal container for a very long time.

Gaurav Seth 5 years, 2 months ago

Curd and sour substances contain acids. Acids react with metals to produce salt and hydrogen gas. So, if such substances are kept in copper container, the acid will react and the container will be corroded.

green house is anenclosed region made of glass in whichdelicate plants are kept for growing. Sun's rays pass though the glass in the greenhouse. The infra red rays reelected by earth surface inside the greenhouse are not allowed to escape due to the glass walls Thus, air inside the green house becomes warmer. In a similar manner, atmosphere acts like a green house wall for earth. The gases such as co2, methane, ozone, etc. Are green house gases. These allow sun's rays to enter the earth's atmosphere and reach earth surface. But they prevent the reflected infra red rays from escaping the earth. This is called green house effect....

Global warming refers to the increasing temperature of the Earth’s climate system and its related effects. Scientific evidence has conclusively proven that the Earth’s temperature is in fact rising and has risen by 0.85oC. This has an impact has affected different regions differently. The effects include rising sea levels, retreating glaciers, loss of sea ice in the poles, warming global temperatures, changing precipitation, expansion of deserts, etc.

This raises significant threats for humans such as food security from decreasing crop yields, submergence of a low-lying area due to the rising sea. To prevent irreversible damage to the delicate ecosystems on Earth, scientists have decided that global warming should be limited to a maximum of 2.0oC relative to pre-industrial levels. The greenhouse effect plays an important role in the rising temperature. And hence to restrict global warming we need to limit the greenhouse effect and the gaseous emissions that cause the greenhouse effect.

Fourteen of the fifteen years in the 21st century have been the hottest years on record with constant occurrences of extreme weather, cyclones, droughts, floods, etc. All these events are some way or the other have an association with the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Value of a=45 & b=180

Swarnima Verma 5 years, 2 months ago

Mean = sum of observations / no. of observations 15 = (2 + 6 + 7 +a)/4 15 = (15 + a) / 4 15 * 4 = 15 + a 60 – 15 = a a = 45 Similarly, Mean = sum of observations / no. of observations 50 = (18 + 6 + 1 +a + b)/5 50 = (18 + 6 + 1 +45 + b)/5 50 = (70 + b)/5 250 = 70 + b b = 250 – 70 = 180 So, The value of b = 180.

1) Lymphatic system consists of lymph capillaries, lymph vessels, lymph nodes and lymph glands.
2) To supply nutrients to the cells (tissues), the liquid portion of the blood with nutri¬ents flows out of the capillaries. This is called tissue fluid.
3) To transport the tissue fluid into the main blood stream, a separate system called lymphatic system is present.
4) Lymph is the vital link between blood and tissues by which essential substances pass from blood to cells and excretory products from cells to blood.
5) Lymph is the substance that contains blood without solid particles.
6) Tissue fluid is the substance which contains lymph present in the tissues.
7) From intercellular spaces, lymph goes into lymphatic capillaries.
8) Lymphatic capillaries join to form large lymph vessels which finally open into larger veins.
9) Lymph flows only in direction, that is from tissues to heart through veins.
Functions of Lymph:
a) Lymph carries digested and absorbed fats from small intestine to different tissues
of the body. .
b) It helps in removing Waste materials from the cells in the body to drain into blood.
c) Lymph protects cells in the tissues from infection.

Oogenesis is the production of egg cells inside the ovaries. During foetal development, few germinal cells in human ovary differentiate and divide mitotically to produce egg mother cell/oogonia. Further, oogonia become larger and divide to produce diploid primary oocyte. In follicular prenatal phase, the primary oocytes start first meiotic division but are transitionally suspended into prophase stage of meiosis I and are stored in the follicle. After puberty, primary oocyte resumes the division and completion of first meiotic division produce one secondary oocyte (egg cell) and one polar body (non-functional cell).
