Install NowUnder Under the new system, students will be evaluated through formative and summative assessments throughout the academic year that will be divided into two terms. While formative assessment includes continuous evaluation throughout the year, summative assessment will require students to appear for exams at the end of each term.
Instead of marks, students will now be evaluated on a 9-point grading system. Students will also get grades for their co-scholastic and learning skills as well, for which the modalities are under consideration. These grades would also be reflected in the report card.
CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said: “Apart from de-stressing students, the new system would ensure that standards don’t fall. It would also encourage students to showcase their creative skills.” However, he said option of grade system will be available only to students who continue in the same school in class XI.
In CCE we will have two parts.
1. Formative Assessment
2. Summative Assessment.
Formative assessment will evaluate and grade the class work, home work, other assignments and projects. There will be 2 formative assessment each in the first and second terms. Each assessment will consist of 10 marks.
Summative Assessment will be based on the end-term examinations. There will be one end-term examination for each term. The first end-term examination will consist of 20 marks whereas the second term examination will carry 40 marks.

when is this grade system be ruled???
will this system be put in place for class of 2009-2010 or not??
our teachers have told us tht this system will come into action from academic year 2010 and hence would not apply to us ….if cbse wants to distress students i suggest telling us directly whether or not exams will take place!!
the new system is not destressing as for the public examination some students may gradually improve and year end exam generally gives satisfaction to the students parent community and teachers. Now the students take the entire school education as mockery.
the new system is not at all clear and school and cbseare not making enough efforts to makeit more clear plz somebodyshould explain cce
I think both ,advantageous as well as disadvantageous. schools having upto 12 standard and if students want to continue cbse board and same school,i feel it is o.k. In todays competitive world students will not become only bookwoms ,they will develop some confidence in them bec of fomative assignment, but if most of the time if going to be wasted in preparation of assignment, they will not get sufficient time to study academics. other point about those schools in which only upto 10 standard educaton is there. There is an option of on demand exam.how it will be conducted? It is not clear yet. One more point i want to add , every thing shd be impartial as far as each student is concerned.

the new pattern of CBSE is quite not understandable because of summative and formative form. children have to do extra work in home like making files and all that. this will also help for students when we will go in class twelve. we can understand the format of board exam. so i don think it is a good form.
I think it cool!i mean i already have it in my school and my avg is already 94.25% from 88.75%
if the schools do not have +1 & +2 will we be provided with marks.
please tell me will we have grades this year or not by this year i mean the second term exams of class ix in the session 2009-2010.
even though i get 95% but still i m scared reply soon.
this grading system is awesome.
Please provide the method of selection Question papers sent by the Board for 9th std, Can any school select all sets of QPapers for distribution in school for Summative assessment? if yes, don’t you feel some students might get tough paper for answering and thereby demoralise their efforts ?

i am a student of class 10th. now, days my exams are coming so I think, this grading system is good than the marking scheme because in marking scheme some week students are not able to achieve but in that case every student who will submitted his\her record time to time will achieve…. so thanks sir for giving us this easy method to progress…..
