The Class 9 Hindi textbook “Ganga” features a curated selection of literature categorized into गद्य-खंड (Prose) and काव्य-खंड (Poetry).

Class 9 Hindi Book Ganga

Following the same pattern, NCERT has named the Hindi textbook after the holy river Ganga. NCERT Class 9 Hindi Book Ganga has 13 chapters, including two read-only chapters.

The new NCERT Class 9 Hindi textbook “गंगा” has been thoughtfully designed to introduce students to a rich variety of literary forms while strengthening their language skills. The गद्य-खंड (prose section) includes engaging and meaningful lessons such as “दो बैलों की कथा” and “रीढ़ की हड्डी”, which highlight values like friendship, courage, and integrity. Other chapters like “क्या लिखूं?” and “में और मेरा देश” encourage students to reflect on personal expression and national identity. The inclusion of “संवेदन ऐसी भी बातें होती हैं”, an interview with Lata Mangeshkar, adds a contemporary and inspiring touch, connecting students with real-life experiences and achievements.

गद्य-खंड

The prose section also explores diverse themes and perspectives through lessons like “आदिवासी पट्टून तक”, helping students understand cultural diversity and social realities. Additionally, “निर्मल जीव सिंह ‘सेवा’” under the “साथ-साथ पढ़ें” category promotes value-based reading and inspires learners through real-life examples of service and dedication. Overall, this section not only improves comprehension and analytical skills but also nurtures empathy and awareness among students.

काव्य-खंड

The काव्य-खंड (poetry section) beautifully complements the prose with a selection of poems that range from devotional to patriotic and emotional themes. Poems like “रैदास के पद” and “राम-परशुराम-लक्ष्मण संवाद” introduce students to classical and cultural roots, while “झाँसी की रानी” and “भारती, जय, विजयोत्सव!” instill a sense of patriotism and pride.
