The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to introduce on-screen marking of answer-sheets for classes X and XII from next session. The Board has decided to bring in the digital system in two phases which may help the evaluation process and minimize the scope for errors.
The first phase will begin in March 2013 with Class X answer-sheets. Since class X Board exams are optional, the number of answer-sheets to be handled on the first go will be much less than the total workload.
CBSE will start checking class XII answer-sheets on-screen in 2014.
According to CBSE, the new system will enhance quality and speed of the process as well as transparency in evaluation.
