CBSE Rules for Improvement of Performance

RULE 44.1    IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCE – SENIOR SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION

AMENDED RULE 44.1(i) : A candidate who has passed an examination of the Board may reappear for improvement of performance in the succeeding year only; however, a candidate who has passed an examination of the Board under Vocational Scheme may reappear for improvement of performance in the main examination in the succeeding year or the following year provided they have not pursued higher studies in the mean time.  They will appear as private candidates. Those reappearing for the whole examination may, however, appear as regular candidates also if admitted by the school as regular students.  The candidate (s) appearing for improvement of performance can appear in the subject (s) only in which they have been declared pass and not in the subject in which they have been declared fail.

AMENDED RULE 44.1(iii): Candidates who appear for improvement of performance will be issued only Statement of Marks reflecting the marks of the improvement examination.

RULE 44.2   IMPROVEMENT OF PERFORMANCE – SECONDARY EXAMINATION

AMENDED RULE 44.2(i): A candidate who has passed Secondary School Examination of the Board may reappear at the examination for improvement of performance, in the main examination in succeeding year only, provided he/she has not pursued higher studies in the mean time.  He/she shall appear as a private candidate. Those reappearing in the whole examination, may appear as regular candidates also. The candidate (s) appearing for improvement of performance in the examination can appear in the subject (s) only in which they have been declared pass but not in the subject in which they have been declared fail.

AMENDED RULE 44.2(iii): Candidates who appear for improvement of performance will be issued only Statement of Marks reflecting the marks of the improvement examination.

    I passed Class 12 board exam held in 2010. But I got less marks than what I expected so I has decided to write the improvement exam in 3 subjects.

    So after writing the improvement exam which mark will be taken if the student fails in improvement exam eventhough he has passed in the main class 12 board exam.

  6. If you fail or get less marks in the improvement exam then the old ones will be considered, your marks will not be demoted

  11. if someone fails in his final exam in class 11 then is he not allowed to see his papers in which he has failed and is he not allowed to question the evaluation of his marks ?and what is the criteria of retest?

  12. sir i am a kv student, i failed in my 11th annual exam in max and in supplymentary also, i got 25 i the supp exam in max and sir i am a football player, we won the cluster meet and v where the runners of the regional meet due to which v got a chance to represent chennai region in the all india 1st football tournament conducted by kvs in calcutta.. Is thr any credits for my sports certificates in terms of marks or will i get admission in any other kv school in 12??

  14. Sir i have question what if i gave improvement exam say for 3 subjects i scored well in 2 but in 1 subject i scored less than last year
    What marks would be considered for my result my previous (high marks) or improvement (lower marks) exams mark for that subject
